I think every SAN has a different dash layout it seems. Some don't even have guages where mine fuel/battery gauges are. I have a stereo remote, clock, ballast, ballast guages down under the throttle. The guages across the top are: depthfinder, oil pressure, speedo, tach, PP, engine temp, air/water temp.

 actiondcpd, I thought the ballast tank(s) on the '01 were manual. Could you explain your setup? You can PM me if you want.

I used the stocked ballast system... which my guages look just like yours do except I have a clock down there too and my depthfinder was up in the dash... As for the switches I put in I put two 3-way switches in so that I could control and revers two simer pumps. One pump filled/emptied 2 350lb sacs on top of the stock tanks, the other filled/emptied a 600 lb sac in the locker. I had some lead up front to balance. Here is a picture of my dash before my mod.

Also speaking of Depth finder. I have no clue how to get mine to work. It always reads like 1.5 to 2.5 and I know the water is deeper than that. Does this guage have to be set somehow or is it automatically on when I start the boat?
Mine did the same thing. There is a recall on the HDR 600 by Humminbird. I went to there web page and emailed customer service. They sent me a return #. I sent them my guage, in a week or so they sent me a new one. All free of charge. The new one works better. Tip: You can reach behind the side panel and undo the wing nut on the back of the guage without taking anyting else apart. Pull the guage out, keep the u shaped piece(for the new guage) unplug the transducer, then I cut the red and black wires as close to the guage as possible. Tape up the red wire, It will be hot when the boat is on. When you get the new one, solder the wires, tape or heat shrink the joint and you should be good to go.

DTraing - Can you tell me where you found that recall information? Mine reads the depth part of the time, but most of the time it simply displays nothing. Speed has no consequence on this either.

There was a thread on wakeboarder.com or wakeworld, I can't find it now. I just emailed customer service from the Humminbird web site. www.humminbird.com Go to "Support" and then to "Contact Customer Resource Center"
I then filled out the form and asked them how to get mine working. They emailed back about the recall.
                Hope this helps.

NautiqueJeff, that is a good idea about replacing the speedo with the PP, but we all know "reknown" PP is for having their speed off! Ours is brand new and is already 5 mph off!

Do you have it calibrated properly (through the slalom course)??

ski, I don't think it has ever been calibrated after we got it, unless the dealer did it. Unfortunately I don't always have access to a slalom course, is that the only way to calibrate it?

You have to have a course with magnets, and the cooresponding magnets in the boat to read each other. The magnets in the boat are removable, and all this is usually done by the dealers. My dealer has a private ski lake next to their shop, so they launch the boat and calibrate them before the customer takes delivery. They can also recallibrate it at any time. I was told that PP is more accurate at lower speeds with the paddle wheel, but the higher speeds the pitot tubes are more accurate.

If all you guys with 2000-2002 digital gauges are sick of dealing with them going out or can't see them in the sun you can order a replacement kit of Faria analog gauges from your dealer.....................

Well I emailed Humminbird. This is what I got for a reply
"We are sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your HDR600 . For
this particular problem, we require the unit to be returned to the factory for
service with your name, address and a brief description of the problem taped to
                              the unit and mailed to:

The service charge on the unit out of warranty is $68.95. This charge covers all
parts labor and return freight with a 90 day warranty. If the unit is still
under the original one year warranty, please include a copy of the dated sales

I can get a brand new one for $99 and it will have a one year warranty. I think I will stick to a new one.

That's crap. How can one HDR600 in a 2000 san be covered and not one in another? This is what they sent me on May 25 2004:
"Dear sir, You will need to send unit to us for service replacement. Just send
it to the following address along with reference number CS-2959494 attached to
the unit inside the box and also wrote on the outside of the box. This will
be covered under warranty. Best Regards, Daphne
                                Techsonic Ind.
                                Service Dept.

                                Eufaula, Al. 36027"

All today mine read either 4.5' or 575' no matter what, so the new one still does not work.
