    Super Sport Slalom Skiing

I am in the market for a Super Sport because I love the price range and the fact that with a little ingenuity I can basically have a Super Air 210.

I do some slalom skiing and my dad (primary investor), is strictly a slalom ski guy. His main concern is that he will not be able to slalom at all like he can on our 1990 sport at 34 mph and 28" off (it the only decent spot on the boat imo). He isn't skiing the course but is way beyond the level of just getting up and making a few mellow cuts.

Has anyone found any decent skiing behind this boat or is it strictly a wakeboarding machine?

Thanks in advance for all the input

Any extremely negative comments, please P.M. me that way my hopes aren't completely spoiled if he is checking this forum as well.

    Thanks again---Kevin

    RE: Super Sport Slalom Skiing

I have skied behind a 98 super sport, 15' off at probably 34mph, and it wasn't bad. I'm sure others will chime in here, but for reasonably advanced skiing - not in the course (haven't tried that) - it was totally acceptable. I'm used to skiing behind an '05 196, for reference.
How 'bout a little reverse action...

If you are spoiled to a 196 wake, then the slalom experience behind a SS is going to make you mad if you want to go through the course.

Big difference between a sport wake and a super sport wake at slalom speeds for a slalom guy. Someone that is just wanting to slalom every so often may not mind it. But I know that I'd never like it if I had to ski behind it every day.

That about sums it up. I've been behind a 210 on a slalom ski and I'd say it's going to leave you wanting for more in that department if you are used to skiing behind any DD ski boat, particularly a 196. I'm sure the same would be true of someone used to wakeboarding behind a 210/SS who wakeboarded behind a 196.

I slalom behind my super sport all the time and at 15 off the wake is very skiable - even on the course, which is what I am currently working on (maybe I'm just used to the bump  ). I agree with the other posters though that if your accustom to a direct drive, it will be a let down. I'm going to trade mine in for a 196/206 once I graduate from 15 off to the next shorter length on the course...

If your close by to me, I'd be happy to get him a pull so he can try it first hand...

Thanks alot for the help guys, I think my best bet would be to find someone locally and try and get a pull on one. Anyone in the nashville area. JMO i appreciate the offer but i think you are kinda out of my daily commute range.

no problem, yeah I agree thats a long way

One other option is if there is a boat listed for sale that your interested in buying, ask them to give you a tow as part of the water test - this is not an uncommon practice, especially if its a dealer/marina that has it.

                  Good luck.
