Pop up Mooring cleats, where to place them

I am considering adding pop up mooring cleats to my 196. Anyone done this or had them dealer installed. Suggested location for the cleats, top or angle side wall. How far from the bow and stern?

Pop up cleats are great. Have them on my boat. Just wondering why you need them on a closed bow Ski.
I had mine for several years and never had any problems tying off from the pylon and the rear lifting ring. BKH

I have a 99 Snob and just put pop up's on mine. The fronts I put just in front of the windshield on the deck and the rears I put above the rubrail about in line with the front of the back seat.

Very easy to install if you get the ones you have to just drill 2 7/8" holes for. You will need a deep 1 1/4" socket to tighten up the nuts-do not overtighten or you will crack gelcoat. I made backing plates from a piece of 1/8" aluminum but that is not required, just overkill. Remember to check and double check to make sure nothing under the area you are drilling. Double layer of masking tape on area and run holesaw backwards to get thru gelcoat, then forwards. Round off edges with sandpaper or Dremel. Took longer to figure out where I wanted to put them than to install. That and to work up the nerve to take a holesaw to my gelcoat. Also, a shop vac helps a bunch for the dust you will create.

I got tired of not having anyplace to hook bumpers and the stick on ones have a tendency to pop off at the wrong time. We also tie up at different docks and it makes it much simpler. Got mine online for about $35 per + shipping.

i put mine about a foot further back, under the windshield. That way I can reach up and tie/untie without getting up from the drivers seat... lazy i know. back ones just above the rub rail about even with the front of the rear seat. huge help tying up at marinas and docks that don't have tie offs positioned right.
