Man, I wish CC made something like the MC X-7. It would be like a 196 but with open bow, ballast system, tower and all the other wakeboard stuff. Great for slalom, not too bad for wakeboarding if weighed properly. Any idea?

I thought that the Team package didn't include hard-wired ballast? Also, does the 206 have the same world-class tournament ski wake that the 196 has?2015 G23 - CURRENT

2. Not an expert myself...but other posters have noted the 196 is slightly better. All I know is when I'm up at speed and look in the rear veiw.....there ain't much wake.

206 might not have tanks, but I'm pretty sure the 216 does. It's just a little longer but the ski wake isn't supposed to be much different from the 206.

The 196 has world-class slalom wakes. But comments I've heard about the 216 from actual owners are that it's neither great at skiing nor wakeboarding. One person even told be that he can't use it for slalom because his wake is too big, but his kids won't use it for wakeboarding because the wake is too small!
On the other hand, I know at least two people who sacked-up their 196 and got an excellent wake for wakeboarding and even for surfing. They tell me that the hull being narrower, it is quite easy to weigh it down enough.
MC sure nailed that one down with the X-7.2015 G23 - CURRENT

The MC X-7 doesn't ski like the Prostar 197 because of the weight. It's a little bit the same where you've taken a good ski boat and added features that take away the skiability, but that make it wakeboard-able. Not matter what you try to do, you'll never have the same wakeboard experience in a direct drive that you would in a V-drive AND if you try...all your doing is compromising a good ski boat. If you want to wakeboard more than ski...by a V-Drive for you and the family and go skiing when you can with your buddy that has a 196. The 206 does have a bump in the wake that you don't have with the 196. NOTHING can replace the 196...and nothing can quite substitute for the V-Drive wakeboard boats. The 206 is a try, but again it won't have much of a wakeboard wake even in the pre-2006 models because it was only a small trick-tank that was installed and it just doesn't beef-up like a V-Drive.
It's a tough situation for all of us. I love to ski like you wouldn't beleive, but wake surfing is way, way, way fun. Need a 196 to ski, need a V-Drive to surf. We're all in the same boat as you...literally.

The 196 206 and 216 are all great Slalom Corse boats. All weighted will make good wakeboard boats too. Sometimes it is the Indian and not the arrow.2008 Super Air 210 Team

Talk about funny... where was that video with Murray pulling inverts in the early 90's behind the outboard with a 6 inch wake? I've slalomed behind a 90 horse tri-hull in the early 90's. Sure, it took some time to plane out, but it was fun just to say I'd done it. Remember that 3 letter word, starts with F? Ideally I'd have three lifts with a 196, a 210 or 230 and a Pontoon with a grill and a fridge on it... hahaha... For now, I'll have to "settle" for my old 2001.
I'm 98% sure I had to make a compromise I was less happy with last night when the bar was out of Miller...Travis Fling

I guess I'm not clear enough. Just picture the typical family where mom and/or dad are big ski fans and head to the course almost every morning. They also enjoy the occasion wakeboard ride. Their young kids also got into wakeboarding. They're doing basic moves like W2W, 180's, trying basic spins and eventually inverts.
The tower and ballast sure would help, but the most important point is have this tourney level ski wake offered by none other than the 196. Add to the fact that gas prices will put pressure on people towards buying smaller boats.
That's the market segment that CC might be missing, at the benefit of MC with their X-7.2015 G23 - CURRENT
