If you could Create a better Nautique

Because working for the Correct Craft marketing department would be my absolute dream job I'm just throwing this out there for fun and because I'm sure there will be some great Ideas going on out there.

So the idea to this forum is just if you could do anything to a nautique to make it better, either styling, performance, creature comforts, ect. What would you do?

For starters I think its time for an update to the classic three stripe gel-coat pattern for the Air series, something much edgier, although I do think the new top striping pattern and transom coloring is a great start I just wish it was not so expensive.

      A V-drive with no wake at 30+

To each his own, but I hate the way MC has gone gawdy to satisfy the bling crowd. I like the toned down styling.

I would work on the gelcoat dept. Both brand new boats I have purchased were pretty beat up!

I would scan this forum and start polls. That would keep me busy for at least a century.

I'd do a dash like the modern day vehicles have with the large touch screen that runs everything. I think it would be sweet to sit down in the boat an feel like you're in a toned down BMW. GPS, Sterio controls, navigation controls...everything in an attractive touch screen. Spedo and tach should always remain a needle though.

Custom graphics would be kind of cool too. It is a hand-made $50k + boat.

I think more options that you can add on later such as Scion does.

The second thing would be striping in the gelcoat like Malibu does. Malibu striping is done in the gelcoat and the lines are clean. Correct Craft always used striping tape!

Its a small thing but its great, a linked latch is a must have. I have a friend at Taylor Made who designed this but CC has yet to put it on their boats. To my knowledge I have the only CC out there with one. Turn one knob and it works both window latch releases at once. I'm pretty sure Taylor Made put a patent on it.

I know I'm old school, and probably older in age than most on this site. But, for my $.02, I like a boat to look like a boat. I like more traditional graphics. Electronics and boats don't mix. Eventually they fail.

Thus, I don't want edgy graphics. If I wanted that I'd buy a Malibu or an MC. If I want a bunch of fancy electronics, I will add them, but I don't want them forced on me by the manufacturer. I have tower lights, and in my opinion, they are a waste of money. I wouldn't buy them again from the factory or otherwise.

I would focus more on the little things like the window latch described above. Make these boats timeless, and solid as a rock and I will keep buying them.

1 - Infinate color and color placement options for the hull and interior. (top deck included)
2 - Simple graphics options... like mentioned above.
3 - Simple yet effective tower designs that look good AND work well. (No bling machined pieces just to make things look expensive)
4 - Multiple vender options for audio equiptment from factory (i.e. Wetsounds, Kicker, NVS, etc.) and installed properly.
5 - Consult with PP and audio venders to make gauges light up the same color. (all red for better night vision)
6 - Multiple speeds on transmission for improving gas consumption and power.

I could keep listing, but that's just a few things that jumped in my head first. I know most of these will lengthen production times, but overall I think would improve and already **** fine product.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

How about a cooler that actually holds ice for more than 2 hours? Defroster option for the dawn patrol runs(like this morning, nothing like glass at 6 am). Closed bow with a sealed cover, like a trunk on a car, so you can actually find something up there(saw that on the Corvette Bu'). Dash lights you can dim. Never rip, never fade, never stain seats and carpet(while we're on that, never scratch hull).

I am on my 2nd Nautique(the first being an 85 2001 and currently a 99 SNOB) and other than the 1st 2 suggestions, have been very happy. Owned a 94 Bu inbetween and could not wait to get another Nauti.

One of the best features on my boat is the flip over center piece in the rear seat that keeps everybodys feet off the seat. And the rubber pad on the transom where you step over.

                            - Rotary dial volume control on stereo remotes. pushing multiple times for volume up or down sucks.
                            - RPM sensitive volume control like all GM vehicles have had for 10+ years. This would eliminate the contstant volume up/volume down every time a rider gets up/falls.
                            - Rear hatches work ok for me, but nobody else can figure them out. Basically you have to put weight on them to open or close. People seemed to like the electric ones on the 02 SAN.
                            - Ballast should have electically activated shutoff between pump and water pickup. mine eventually drain through the jabsco ballast pumps.
                            - The fabric wind screen in the walkthrough sucks. They should give us a snap repair kit when we buy the boat, or replace it with one like the malibu, or like the 230.
                            - Design the hull so it isnt so side-to-side sensitive to weight placement (like my 220). Or, maybe put a balance sensor in it that would move a 100lb weight from side to side to counter it.
                            - I like the garbage bin idea on the 220, it was a feature i didnt expect i would like so much. they should try to incorporate that into all models, even if it is smaller.
                            - Keep away from the malibu style digital dash. i drive them often and i dont like the electronics layout for switches for ballast, wedge, stereo, etc, its functional but its like trying to learn to set the clock on a vcr to get anything to turn on or off.
                            - have auxilliary sack connectors to add extra ballast bags without having to plumb it ourselves. (but they probably can't do this due to liability reasons)
