Whats the difference between a Sport and an Air Nautique

I'm looking at buying a nautique in the near future, so lately I have been searching online. I've seen a 1998 "Sport" nautique and it looks just like a 1998 "Air" nautique. Other than the graphics, what are the differences between these two boats??? Ultimately, I think I'm going to end up buying a "ski" Nautique with the open bow. But if I find a Sport or an Air Nautique for the right price, it would be an option to purchase one of these.

Also, one other question. If a sport Nautique is 21' long, how long is it with the trailer? 23'? 24'? I need to store in my garage so space is an issue.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am not positive but I think the hull is the same on sport and air nautique but the air came from the factory with a tower and maybe a small ballest system.

The differences between the Air and Sport for that year are that the AIR has the following:
      Flight Control Tower
      A taller tow pylon
Launch Control System - I do not know the weight or how many tanks for a 98'
and Air Graphics as you previously mentioned.

As far as the question about your garage clearance issue, you can get pretty close to 21' if you remove the swim platform and have a swing-away tongue on your trailer. If you leave the platform on you are looking at 22'5" and call it 3 additional ft if you do not have a swing-away tongue.

i have a 1998 air and it has 2 ballast tanks and crowlands right, the sport didnt come with the tower. it does have an open bow though. length with the trailer all depends on the trailer i.e. swing away tongue etc.

so is that why it says SUPER SPORT on the sticker inside (near the ballast guages)
          ??

I thought a Super Sport was a V-drive. The sport and the Air were direct drives. Maybe I am wrong.

              Yep,

Same boat. Super Air is just an other label to the same boat.

for 98-99 super sport/super air, are the same boat (my SAN capacity tag says Super Sport)
                sport / air same boat

in 2000 I was under the impression that there was no more Super Sport or Sport. Is this incorrect ? The Air Nautique got a new hull that year, did they still make the sport ?

The Sport/Air hull remained the same from 98-2002, then it became the 216. Don't confuse the Sport/Air Nautique with the SAN or the Super sport. The sport/AIR has always been a DD. There was a Pro Air (DD) also around 99-02, but it had a wake hull vs the TSC that was on the Sport /AIR

Two or three different tangient going here.

Adidas wants to know Sport vs. Air. C Rowland correctly pointed out the differences. Though interestingly ballast, extended pylon and tower could be ordered as options on the sport.

Saceone noted that his Super Air Nautique says Super Sport on the labels inside the hull. This is correct. Same boat. All of the changes which made a Super Sport a Super Air, were bolt on changes - Tower, ballast, graphics, and guages for the ballast. Same boat. Same is true for the Sport/Air - Same boat with bolt on changes.

Wakeslayer, in 2000 you could still buy a sport or super sport, though less common because by then, towers had become pretty popular, and for just a bit more money, why not buy the boats configured as most people wanted them in the resale market.
