I was at my familys lakehouse in Angola, Indiana about 5 minutes from MWCC this weekend for the first time this year and saw about 6 new model SAN 230's and a couple mid 2000's SAN and Airs, not one Malibu or MC. My only concern is that all the New SAN's did is cruised around and pulled tubers. I even saw one 230 that was cruising around with his tower folded down all weekend. I was the only Nautique surfing and boarding. I guess my question is why spend that much money on such a nice boat to cruise around and tube?

My neighbor has a new Porsche 911 Turbo, but I rarely see him driving over the speed limit....he's mainly just cruising around enjoying himself.2001 Air Nautique

Hyperwake,
Posts like yours are so narrow-visioned. Not knocking you specifically. Why do people automatically assume that if someone pulls tubers all day that they are not tourney level wakeboarders that will rip a session that evening or the next morning?? There's a time and a reason for everything. Sometimes I dedicate the WHOLE day to just pulling my kids and my friends kids in the tubes, on the kneeboards etc. If you see me during this time, why label a 226 owner as a wave causing tuber puller. Even if I didn't wakeboard or ski or barefoot at all, I would buy a 230 to have THEE best tube-pulling boat out there. It just so happens that people do many activities with these expensive toys - you're just not with them all the time to see it.

I tend to agree, let the person buy a boat for whatever they want. I am the only person in my family that skis/boards. The rest of the time the boat is used for crusing, maybe pulling a tube, or a few times being a spotter on the trans Tahoe swim. Boating is about enjoying the day, letting the friends and family enjoy being in the water and around a lake. Heck most days my regular lake is blown out by 10am so the rest of the day would be dedicated to cruising and tubing. I would guess that most people buying a 230 are buying it for a "family boat" and not for a dedicated wakeboarding boat.

Thank you all,
I understand if you have the money then why not get the best. Im just not used to seeing boats like that used as "family boats" around here. Then again I don't live on a lake. I apologize if I offended anyone, that was not my intention. I was just curious on everyones opinion.

I agree with Skiswm. My lake is awesome, but by time everyone gets out there it's blown up, and tubing is one of those activities that you can do when it's wavy. I guess ideally we'd have a 196 for slalom, a 230 for wakeboarding, a pontoon for cruising, and a bayliner for tubing, but I have other toys I have to fit in my garage too!!! hahaha... I think you get the best boat that can do everything, and do what the lake allows?Travis Fling

Ditto the Porsche comment. When I was looking at boats, the choice was obvious. Find a great boat at a reasonable price that will stand up to the test of time that I can get my money back out of when I am ready to sell it. Correct Craft makes an incredible boat that CAN be used as an awsome wakeboard boat but it also makes for one **** of a tube ride!

I may be in the minority but lately one of my biggest pet peeves is all the people with new inboards that don't have a clue how to drive. On my lake I pretty much always wakeboard in one bay. We get out early to get the good water but it seems like more and more there are people buying inboards that don't have a clue. They'll come into the bay and either drive circles and wreck the entire bay or power turn, pull tubers (that's what the middle of the lake if for) etc. I usually just shake my head. I will occasionally pull up and try to talk to them. I expect this to be the case if you're driving around in a Bayliner but when you step up to a inboard of any brand I expect you to have some common sense and lake etiquette. I really wish the dealers would take the time to educate their clients on how to properly drive a boat. End Rant.

I no longer expect any level of intelligence out of an inboard owner. Before tubing blew up you could assume you were all in it together looking for good, skiable water. I don't know how or why people are buying these boats to tube, it doesn't make sense to me.

I totally agree, I live near a lake and can’t believe how inconsiderate and just plain clueless some people can be. One of the most inconsiderate boats on our lake happens to be a 2006 yellow response (one of my favorite non-Nautique boats) with a couple of great skiers that happen to be the biggest pricks (as in the rose kind) on the lake. Power turns, driving up on skiers….. Just a couple of total Richard’s. Sad part is they know what they are doing, most people are never taught what they do impacts others on the lake.
If you ever want a good education on driving pick up the book(DVD). It’s a couple of tattooed, wake boarders that have a series of DVD’s that start out teaching you how to launch, drive, wakeboard ….. I think it should be mandatory for all boat owners to at least watch the first DVD. I mostly ski however my neighbor got it and I watched with no thought to learning anything and was amazed at the little tricks I learned from these guys. From the cover it look like a couple a cool guys teaching flips & spins, but it starts you from the dock and covers from beginner to expert. None of my Suyderhoud videos ever talked about boater etiquette or how to drive and chip in for gas. Not knocking Mike cause he is “The Mang” but wouldn’t hurt to include some extra stuff for that $59.99.

MUST READ
First of all, I feel you hyperwake.
After reading some other replies, I agree with some guys about it being a free country to buy whatever you want. After all, its your money, and I dig that.
Now here is the problem. I feel that a lot of you Nautique owners on this site don't respect wakeboarding at all. Are you new to the boating industry or have forgotton why Correct Craft makes the Super Air Nautique? I can promise you that Correct Craft didn't build the original Flight Control Tower and utility patent it, just for thousands of other boaters to enjoy their stereos, tubing, and lake cruising. Give me a break, they built it because riders like Murray, Necrasson, Byerly, etc... pushed the sport of wakeboarding into this new era. You shouldn't even be allowed to buy an Air Nautique if you don't know who these guys are or if u can't figure out what "Super Air" stands for!
I am sorry if this offends anybody (and u know who u are), but I have to say that any boater out there in a Air Nautique that doesn't board is a complete POSER! You are a POSER because you paid a premium price for options on a boat that you don't even use, or understand. You drive around the lake looking cool in the most expensive boat on the market and wakeboarders flip you the bird because you don't know what a scarecrow is!

RE: MUST READ
Whoah  ......damdor....Correct Craft has a history well beyond wakeboarding look up their history from WW2 or their original designs for waterskiing. You might be a bit shocked but there are A LOT of skiers and barefooters on this board. I think you should also see how many of us were the original wakeboards, we owned Skurfers or the wonderful O'brien versions made at that time. So before calling people "posers" you might want to check who your talking to. The Air may be for wakeboarding but there is a wondeful 211 out there that is a crossover boat but carries the "Air" branding. The original Air wasn't a wakeboard boat, look at the history and see how it goes back to the Super Sport which was designed for Skiing not boarding, as boarding was just in it's infancy at that time. Look back at the Barefoot boats that were also out there at the time, these boats all lead to the Air. Which when it was made was just a rebranded Nautique Sport boat. The Super Air is the Super Sport just with Ballast and a Tower added. I myself ski and board behind my "Super Sport/Air," so am i am a poser? I owned a Wake Tech baord and a Skurfer board........I also own a ski, kneeboard, and tube. You get all the use out of a boat you can.

RE: MUST READ
skiswm, you get a poser exemption card from me, but your making yourself sound like an idiot dropping comments about the original Air wasn't intended for wakeboarding. Do i need to show you my CC catalogs from 98-08 with pics of wakeboarders riding behind Air Nautiques. I know and respect the history of the inboard industry and watersports, but the pill you and everyone else has to swallow is that wakeboarding is the future of this industry. Like you described in your post, its all about evolution.
