My only concern is that all the New SAN's did is cruised around and pulled tubers. I even saw one 230 that was cruising around with his tower folded down all weekend. I was the only Nautique surfing and boarding. I guess my question is why spend that much money on such a nice boat to cruise around and tube?
Be glad all you see are Nautiques. I'm sitting on my deck right now having a drink and there are four Malibus pulling boarders up and down the lake. I own the only Nautique on this end of the lake. Maybe I can convert them.

David you better start trying to convert some of those maroons. You can start with that little brother of yours. BTW I'm thinking of being in your neck of the woods tomorrow, wanna get behind the 230.

We get out early to get the good water but it seems like more and more there are people buying inboards that don't have a clue. They'll come into the bay and either drive circles and wreck the entire bay or power turn, pull tubers (that's what the middle of the lake if for) etc. I usually just shake my head. I will occasionally pull up and try to talk to them. I expect this to be the case if you're driving around in a Bayliner but when you step up to a inboard of any brand I expect you to have some common sense and lake etiquette. I really wish the dealers would take the time to educate their clients on how to properly drive a boat. End Rant.
So from my original post I was out with the local Malibu dealer last night, him and I are good friends. We have Wakeboard Wednesdays where a bunch of us guys get together and ride. We'll everybody and their brother was out on the lake and just tearing up the water. A Malibu that I know his shop sold came into the bay pulling a wakeboarder but started power turning and basically driving like a moron. So I got on his case about it, maybe a little too hard cause I was pissed. He basically told me that these people are dropping 60k on a boat he can't tell them how to drive. My response was you sure can and it should be your responsibility as a salesperson selling these boats. I'll be the first to admit back when I wakeboarded behind a bayliner 11 years ago I did power turns. I didn't know any better until one of my friends taught me how to properly drive. Since that day I've known why it's important not to do power turns, not only the safety of the skier/boarder, coming back at them hot could end up in running them over if you're not careful but also the fact that you are sending rollers down the line that your rider has to go through once their back up. We argued about it for some time but I couldn't get him to agree to give driving lessons when he sells a boat. One of the other guys who bought a new 23' Malibu seemed to agree with me and said that he'd want to be told so everyone on the lake wasn't pointing and him saying look at that a-hole in his new boat and he can't even drive it. I'm going to work on some kind of laminated sheet to just politely hand to people on the lake that explains how to properly drive and why it's important. If anyone has something like this already let me know.

My lake is 10 minutes from Midwest CC and there are plenty of Malibu's, Moomba's & Mastercrafts as well. Out of 6 marina's in the area, 4 are CC dealers.

Here's a point for the BU boat salesman. Golf can be an extremely sport. Some country club memberships cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Yet, in golf, no matter how much you've paid, all are concerned with etiquette. In fact, the more expensive the club or the course, the more concerned the players and officials are about etiquette such as stepping in a line, who tees off first, etc. The point to be made is that if you're spending 60K or more on a boat, that's all the more reason to be given some tips so as to play the game like a pro, and not like a public course amateur, so to speak. A bit harsh. I think we forgot what this is all about? Being out on the lake having a good time with friends and family. I own a 08 SANTE 220 and wakeboard with my family all the time but as the previous people have stated sometimes you just feel like hanging out. If that means towing a tube or just cruising the lake looking at other boaters so be it. Lighten up. Lifes too short.

There are little things you can do to change your behavior that will allow other people to have much more enjoyment out of their lives w/o taking anything away from you.

1VileRide- I have no problem what so ever if you want to throw in a tube and have a good time. If all you ever want to do behind your 220 is tube that's great. All I ask is that you respect the people that are wakeboarding or skiing because thats what we've bought these boat for. We want and need calm water. You can tube anywhere and it's actually more fun the rougher it is. The few times I've been hurt on a wakeboard are do to bad water conditions. I broke my foot on a tantrum because the wake bucked me when I hit it do to rough water. I've probably done 1000 tantrums and that just happen to be a bad one which cost me 4 weeks of riding. It's really not that hard to have common sense and share the water. I don't expect nice water on a Sat afternoon but at 8:00 am I would expect some courtesy and etiquette from a fellow inboard owner.
