    New winch; DTM trailer

I need to replace my winch on my DTM trailer because the strap (webbing) is beginning to separate.

Any suggested winches or are the fairly generic?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it a DHM trailer? Here is a link to their website page for winch replacement parts, including straps only (not sure why you'd need to replace the winch for need of a strap?)

Yes, DHM. DTM is a cooling system for an air cooled porsche motor.

Thank you, I'll check out the link.

The strap on my DHM trailer was getting pretty ratty, it was also really long, like 20 ft... i cut off the first 3 feet and had a local shop re-sew the hook back on. Looked new and he didnt even charge me.

Yeah, I like the idea too. Where I launch I don't need the entire 20ft. I just don't know where - in San Jose, CA - to get it sewn back together.

I have done this several times and just took it to a shoe repair shop.

Usually you do not need that much lenght on the strap however you do not want to take too much off. You never know when you may have a problem and can not float in up far enough or need that extra length. Just a thought. I also would think if it just the strap and hook you could buy them at any Marine or Trailer shop. I think I got one once just a local trailer store.
