    220 Weight Question

I hate to ask stupid questions, but here it goes....

We are new to wakeboarding and don't pull at a very fast pace. We run around 18 MPH and I can't figure out how to get the wake situated. We are washing really bad on the Starboard side.

I am not really running any ballast because I don't have the instestinal fortitude...yet....

Is it as simple as running balast on that side or should I just fill the belly.

    Any help appreciated!

    RE: 220 Weight Question

I think its mostly a speed issue. Here is what I've learned from others here: "The white side is the light side", so maybe see if your crew is sitting mostly on the port side if the starboard is washing? (If you aren't using an observer, add ballast to the port tank to offset your weight) Do you have the hydro-gate in WB mode (is this a feature on the 220?)? A bit more speed will definitely help, when you are ready. Why don't you at least experiment with adding ballast to the rears and belly and see what you get? I am running full rears and 2/3 in the belly with the gate in WB mode at 21 and the wake is very nice and clean. When my wife rides at 18 she notices the wash but not me pulling her at 20 to clean it up!

      RE: 220 Weight Question

Whats up fellow TN's, I think HS is right about the speed. I personally think that 18 mph is way too slow, even for beginners. The wake will become smoother and the white wash should go away around 21-22 mph. I always ride between 23-24mph to avoid any washing out.

        RE: 220 Weight Question

From what I have seen the 220 needs to be at higher speeds to really clean up 22 or more.

balance the boat. when you initiate your cut, it should clean up the side of the wake that you are approaching. we never ran under 22 mph in my 220...
