building a home made perfect pass/cruise control?

well i gave the g/f her first driving lesson yesterday, and now i know why they call the perfect pass system a marraige saver. it turned into a huge fight.
well i cant afford $1000 for the perfect pass, **** the boat was only $5000
has anyone ever built a crud cruise control system?
or even just a rpm hold system.
if i go with rpms i need about 2200. the problem with a rev limiter like used in drag racing is i dont think 2200 would be enough to yank us out of the water with out feelign like were dragging. and ive seen motorcycle stunters put a knob on there idle control cable and anjust it that way. of course a true mph based cruise control type system would be more accurate.

has anyone ever built one? or have any ideas on how to?

Back in the early 80s, my brother installed an aftermarket automobile cruise control on a 67 CC mustang. As I recall, he installed the wheel magnets on the prop shaft. It was really crude, and required an engineer to run it, but then again, auto cruise controls were pretty crude then too.

I thought people who were upgrading to Zero Off were selling their old PP systems here or on Ebay? A prior thread mentioned to be sure all of the parts were included...

one of the best things I have done for my boat has been installing a digital stewart warner tachometer. Weight your boat, figure out the speed and see what RPM it is running and tell the driver to put the tach on that number. It has made driving the boat so much easier for me and everyone else and it was only 130 bux. It has a built in shift light too that I set at the max cruise of the engine too. I put it in a piece of plexiglass I cut with a holesaw a little bigger than the original tach guage and modifies the mounting bracket by spreading the fingers to grip the back of the dash. Works awesome

Then when I need it for the track, I take it out and use the shift light for my novi 2000 blown Mustang GT, camaro boy Cum git sum

Get someone else to teach her to drive and dont be around as it happens. That way you dont fight and she gets the satisfaction of learning. Driving is VERY easy and also a lot of fun.

There are water ski instructors courses available that teach boat driving as well.
