Good luck but I have talked to guys and seen guys on here that got new 220's cheaper than that. You may still be able to pick up a closeout. The dealer I got my 236 from (for sale by the way 60 hrs loaded could be got for less than that price right now) has a 220 in black and blue. Check out their site at www.KYS.com
You may be able to find a better deal. I thought the same way you did last year and truthfully love my new boat but hate the expense and am ready to go back to a smaller commitment if you know what I mean.

I an conservitive financially. Are you carrying any credit debt, other than your house? Obviously you are, your current boat is one example.
If you have an extra $175.00 a month you can afford, pay down your highest interest rate loan first, and then the next, and the next, until you are carrying no debt, other than your house.
Pay off your boat loan. A little extra at the beginning of a loan will save you a lot at the end of a loan.
One of the beat things about I like about my 1997 Ski Nautique is that the title of the boat is sitting in my desk drawer, and not at some bank somewhere.

Another idea is to save the 175 a month, and have PP installed in your current boat. Try to negotiate an off season deal when your dealer is looking for work, after the winterization rush fades, before boat show season starts.

It's just 2 of you and you fill up a 211? If that's the case and you don't really *need* the room you'll probably fill up a 220 as well for the **** of it. Then the buzz will wear off and you'll be posting about trading in for a '10.

We have an '88 Ski Nautique, and you can probably guess we pack the thing. I like knowing we use the boat to it's capacity.

when the 09 220s get to the dealers in early sept the cost of a new 08 sitting at the dealer will drop some which could equal significant savings by waiting a month. pm me if you want more info, because i dont think it is ok to post actual numbers on here.

My opinion on the boat upgrade is this. Going from a 211 to a 220 wake is a huge upgrade. I have a buddy that bought a 06 211 at the beginning of the 2006 summer, and by the end of the summer he had upgraded to a 220. Main reasons were size of the interior and layout, wakeboard wake is far superior, surf wake is massive, and the boat had some upgrades that he liked. I have been behind both of his boats for countless hours and love the upgrade for overall performance. We wakeboard and surf only so the upgrade was well worth it. The 211 was a great boat but the 220 is just that much better.....

As for the money, only you know if that is the right thing to do. Do what ever floats your boat, no pun intended. You only live once.....

I am in your neck of the woods. If you decide to move ahead with the 220 and want to looking at selling your 211 (instead of trading it in) let me know. Thanks.

I certainly appreciate the responses to my post. However, I really wasn't asking for investment/financial advice although it may have sounded like that. I guess the real question was....................is there $175 a month worth of difference between the 211 and 220?

We can easily afford the 175, thats not the question.

Well if the question is 211 vs 220, I have had 2 211's and now have a 220 and love the extra room and I like the handling better. I also have the ZR6 which I think is a necessity in the larger boat.

I think you will like the 220.

The reason for the financial advice is $175 is a lot to some and nothing to others. Most owners have the goal of payoff, so the real issue is the difference in purchase prices (your business).

                        175 a month for 12 months...maybe.

                        175 a month for 120 months....no way.
If I had another $175 a month, I'd be paying down the 211. That would go a LONG way toward the principal.

If you can afford it and it's what you want then go for it. If you change your mind in the future you can always sell it!

Forums are here to share good information about a specific topic. If you have info that could save a person thousands of dollars, then I don't see how that could be wrong. This is similar to a person who doesn't check NADA,KBB, etc before they buy a new car: or the dealer being upset that the consumer is informed about prices. Obviously price isn't the only consideration, but this topic is based on money issues.

We need people to buy more to keep the economy going, go buy the new boat. I would use the extra $175 to pay off the current boat though.

I have the 220 and love it. I believe the 220 is quite a bit heavier than your current boat so you may want to check that your tow vehicle has the capasity. I pull mine with a Yukon and it really cuts down on my MPG. Good luck!

Basically your just going to get all opinions.

My personal opinion is to only finance one to two things in life, house and car. I feel that all toys should be paid for outright. Hence the reason I have a 94 instead of a newer model. Obviously most of us don't have the cash for a 70k boat, me included, so I think you should pay down your current boat as much as possible.

                                To each their own.
