Which is the best side to surf behind this boat? I understand that the prop/trans is lefthand rotation which would lead me to believe that the port side is best. I am goofy(right) foot forward so I prefer the starboard side of the wake. How much extra ballast is needed to surf the right side with only the driver in the boat? I know...test drive, but I'm just curious what everyone's experiences have been so far. Thanks!

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
I was in a 2009 210 this week, and watched some industry leaders tear it up on the surf board. They were only running stock ballast with the port tank full and the center half full. The Hydro-Gate was at 2. That setup with four people onboard seemed to work very well. I'll try to post a picture later tonight. Port side will be best due to prop rotation.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
Jeff,
Any idea of how much extra ballast/people would be needed to surf the right side? Are all of the 08 models now lefthand rotation? Thanks so much for your help.
Goofy people please chime in with your observations/experiences.

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
I am a goofy foot rider and surf the starboard side of my 08 210 without any problems. I usually run stock ballast plus extra v drive bag on the starboard side (which is not necessary) with the hydro gate at 2.Current: 08 Super Air 210 Team

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
we used to change sides for regular goofy riders. but, we dont do that anymore, just one or the other, and 99% of the time it is port. its too much hassel to switch sides because somebody is regular or goofy. boat is setup for either port or starboard that day and that is the way it is. once we get it dialed we dont like to mess with it. we have found that the few goofy riders end up riding switch and adapting pretty well and dont ask to ride starboard anymore.-Jon

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
I surfed a 210 this weekend. we surfed both sides with an awesome wake. It was close to waist high. We filled center ballast, port or starboard (whichever side we were surfing), placed a 400lb fat sac in front of motor and had 4 people sitting on the surf side.'18 SAN 210 Reef Blue/Admiral Blue Metal Flake

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
I got to surf an 08 210 yesterday. Wow. what a ride. I actually have boat envy now. My question pertains to the belly locker. Is anyone even bothering putting a sac in there? It is really small, and not sure it is necessary at all. Opinions would be appreciated.the WakeSlayer

That is the only one I could see fitting in there. What do you mean Fly High Nautique ballast system? the stock tanks? We weighted as follows: starboard and belly full, port half full, 200# in a sac in the belly, 450# in the starboard locker, and 400# on the seat. The wake was sick. My friend is ordering his own sacs today, so we are trying to sort out what exactly to get for him.the WakeSlayer

RE: Wakesurfing behind 08 210
The Fly High Nautique system is in addition to the stock tanks. It consists of two 440# v-drive sacs and one integrated bow sac and 150# brick to move around if it is just you and the rider. All bags are run off of the factory pumps, once the stock tank fills up it overflows into the pro x series bags. It adds a total of about 1600# on top of the factory.

i havent played around with a 08 210 but have with a lot of other boats for surfing including my 05 211.
some things to consider since most boats set up near the same.
- the belly tank kills the height of the wake so dont use it.
- pp in rpm mode adds a little bit of back door drive to the wake
- the smaller the boat, the more sensitive it is to wake placement
the quality of your surf wake will only be as good as you want it to be and how much time and weight /placement you want to dedicate. i love wakesurfing and have really got my 05 211 dialed in (can ride 16' from the swim step and it has a really nice barrel)

Clubmyke, not sure I agree on the belly tank. Maybe I will drain mine and have a go at it, but both my waves are stupid big, well shaped, long, etc. We defnitely ride that far back, as well.the WakeSlayer

Perhaps the belly tank doesn't make the wake higher, but it definattly makes the wake longer and better ridedable on our 230... We mostly put the belly at 100%, port or starboard at 100% depends on which side you wanna ride and the opposite at 50%. Then move the people (often just the observer) at the correct side, push 10.5 on the PP and surf until you drop...
But I have to say Clubmyke... Your wake is really first class!230 with ZR6 running on propane
