Need more room. Don't want to sacrifice slalom wake.

I have a 97 SKi Nautique that I absolutley love. I also have two kids with one more on the way, and yes that's it! I love to slalom ski and get on a course whenever I can, but I need more room for the times I take the family to the lake. I know the SV 211 is a good option, but it's out of reach for me. Would something like a 2000 Sport give me satisfactory results, or will I always be longing for my Ski.

2000 Sport has a great slalom wake.........Can't go wrong with any of the SNOBS or 206's either. I have a 1997 196 too and all of those above boat wakes are great for the course.

I would keep the 97 and get a wakeboard boat.
      NOTHING beats at 196 wake.

What is your price range? I know of a 2005 sv-211 that sold for $39,500.

A sport Nautique, has a good wake, but not as good as a 196. I would think that a Sport Nautique, or a Ski Nautique Open Bow, or a 206 would all be a better option than the 211, if you want good slalom wakes.

I went form a 99' ski to a 99' sport, except for the 22' rooster tail its a very good slalom boat, and I have been very happy with the room and performance. I have never been behind a 206, but its got to be pretty good also.

If the slalom wake is your priority, I'd aim for a 206 or 216 to give you additional room. 211 is fine, but these are good. I do love my storage though.

My family ran into the same situation with our 88 SN. Quickly ran out of room in the boat.

I would recomend a Sport or 216 or 206. I personnaly feel that the 211 is a wakeboard boat doing it's best to be a ski boat. No offense to anyone out there. But along that same line...I think that a 216 is a ski boat that's trying it's best to be a wakeboard boat So, it goes both ways. I am very happy with the ski wake on my current 216 and on my old 99 Sport.

Another reason why I like the 216 or Sport over the 206 or Ski Nautique Open Bow is becuase of the larger storage. I need room for life jackets and skis and such.....so the extra room is a big requirement for me.

Also, with a 216 or Sport, a tower makes a great addition. If your kids get into wakeboarding, they may all have different size wakeboards...and storage for those is also important. And being able to tow from the higher point, is also a must for me.

                  My two cents worth....

I have a 206 for the same reasons you mentioned and a buddy had a 216. The 216 wasn't too bad as long as you are in front of the rooster tail. The 206 is much better than the 216, but not as good as the 196 at this range.

What line and speed do you ski at?

I can ski into 22 off so it's not like I'm a professional needing to go 41 off. It's just once you have had such a good wake you hate to compromise. Obviously the 211 has the most room, but the 206 or 216 may be the way to go. I just don't want to have any regrets.

i ski around 29, 30 and the wake is very small and i'm out of the rooster when i ski full length from the ski pole. At slower speeds (18, 19) the wake is also doable for wakeboarding.

You should go test ride a 206 (Ski Nautique wake w/ room for the whole family), if slalom is the priority. If you need more room, then look at the 216 (Cross over for the family that skis & wake boards). The 211 is the Cross over for the family that wake boards & skis.

The newer boats with complete fiberglass inside like the 211 tend to weigh more than traditional built boats with glue in carpet. You may want to open your search to consider a few other boat manufacturers. The wake behind my buddies Malibu VTX seems to be a friendlier ski wake than my 211, I think he has the ski specific hull?

I have a 206 and love it. It tracks great, runs like a top, and is smooth as silk. I also love the trick table. That said, at slower slalom speeds, the wake isn't as small or soft as a 196 or something like a Malibu response lx or sporty. I have had girls running the course at 28 mph who bitch about the wake when the tank is full and you have a spotter--but tough s*** I say. At 34 or 36 mph the slalom wake is great, and it just gets better as you shorten the line. The boat does a lot of things really well and has a lot of room for a three-event tow boat.
