    Hydro Gate

I have 2005 206 air nautique and i was thinking about putting a hydro gate on. I was wondering what it would do for my wake (bigger, smaller, harder, flatter) and how the price range would be.

      RE: Hydro Gate

Your 05 hull has the "hydro gate" in the down position molded into the hull. If you get to the bottom you will feel the lip.

Airtool - the gate was not an option until 06 at the earliest I believe

a wedge is a slight down-angled wing that pulls the back of the boat down. Basically adding more downforce to the back of the boat to mimic adding more weight to the back of the boat.

It's a bit of a scary add on for me....

the hydrogate will not make a difference in making the wake bigger. It will only change the table surface and the lip of the wake. Unless you are a trick skier, I would say to skip adding this feature.

While I don't think Malibu does a good job reinforcing the transom for the wedge, I do like the concept and application. I can't understand how so many people put gallons/thousands of pounds of water INSIDE of their boat. I am not a fan of water in the boat. It seems that there is a better way to make a wake boat by design that doesn't require ballast.
By way of comparison, early inboards had a very small wake from the onset. There have been many improvements, but an 1980 CC or MC still puts out a small wake; even by today's standards.

i don't know.....i think the more weight in the boat...the deeper the boat sits in the water....thus the larger the wake.....a wedge pulls the boat into the water putting all the pressure at the connection mounting points....at least water ballast is usually well distributed along the boat....thus less stressfull to the boat. However, an efficient/easy/quick to use ballast system is essential, and I think all boat mfgrs can improve here.

I've owned the bu/wedge and the tige'/taps systems....and now i got a CC, which has a better wakeboarding wake (IMO), mainly because of hull design and built in ballast.
