I think this is effectively a replacement for the fully equipped 211. If the 211 will only be available as a stripped down value boat then people who would have gone for the 211TE in '08 would be expected to go for the 216v in '09. With the wake of a 211 this could be a great moneymaker for CC and the value 211 will bring in people who previously wouldn't have been able to afford a crossover from CC. IMHO though I think I'd rather have a used 211TE w/ 3 ballast tanks than the new value 211.

yeah, yeah it is a nice-ish boat. but to much function seems to be the trend for nautiques these days. two thing they can't seem to nail, towers and transom's. the tower is different and ppl will buy it (i hate it), but that transom is just hideous, just like the rest of the range. why those scallops? they look awful and ruin the rest of the boat. for me the back of the boat is the most important, cos thats what i see the most, but it also needs to blend well with the rest of it and the 216 does not do that. it seriously turns me off the whole brand. why cant they reflect the classic, stylish designs of the past.
if i was granted ceo at CC for the day i would scrap that thing, tell everybody it was a concept that will never make it to production

I personally think that the boat is a very good looking boat. The problem here I think is that most everyone here is opposed to change. A good example, of this is with the old 210 vs. the new 210. Everyone was dead set against it, and 2-3 years later that boat is one of everyones favorites. The point is that if CC was to stay stagnant there would be no advancement. Another point, is that Malibu and MC currently outsell CC by a fairly large margin, and in addition both of those companies have a good deal more offerings. In my opinion, with the new factory in place CC is attempting to make a move up in production and possible move out of the niche of a Ski/Wake boat only company and to do so the Crossover line of boats are key. I know here in GA that there has been a definite move on the Lakes from a SeaRay/Bayliner type runabout to a Inoard/V-drive type runabout. These people are not hardcore skiers or riders, and are "wally weekenders" out for a good time and lots of smiles. These people tube. ski, kneeboard, and wakeboard. This customer wants a sporty looking boat that has upscale features (bling) and they are willing to pay a little more for it. Lets face a little bling has sold a lot of boats.
Another, aspect of this is that the more boats CC sells the more money they will have to put into the "specialty" products like the 196 that do not sell as much.
And maybe just maybe if CC was to sell more boats the prices would not go up so much.2001 Super Air

Didn't mean anything bad by the "tube" comment earlier. Probably should have elaborated a bit. I was thinking the same thing you guys mentioned....this boat is being marketed towards the family. And I agree, I think it's a good idea for CC.
As far as this boat.....if you don't like it, then don't buy it. There are many more boats in the CC line up that might meet your needs. I am not sure how one model of boat could turn me off to the entire brand.
It's all about meeting our needs. For instance, I would still want to go with the 216DD....because I value utilizing a boom. And I am not comfy with the tower mounted boom (limited height adjustment). But, if I was to make the turn to the V-drive.....then this 216 looks like a better fit for me then the 211. But, perhaps, I might also look at the 210....it's all a matter of having multiple options for the consumers. I believe that concept is a strong goal for the future of CC.88 Ski Nautique

So let me get this straight: they are removing the 226, keeping the 216DD, and bringing in the 216V. Why not name it something else to avoid confusion, like maybe the 221 to be the big brother to the 211.
If they are keeping the 216DD, this is going to get confusing...

I heard two things about the new tower:
- the early towers are polished, but they are going to change them from polished to black
- the new tower does not fold down under 7ft, so it wont fit in under 7ft garage doors-Jon

[but that transom is just hideous, just like the rest of the range. why those scallops? they look awful and ruin the rest of the boat.]
I respectfully disagree. The transom on the 211,226 and appearantly this new 216V are the most functional transoms in the industry. I think that the design is genius! For those of you that surf or do anything with kids or newbies near the transom you know what I'm talking about. Those "scallops" make a world of difference while the boat is moving or while you're getting someone geared up. In fact, just a few weeks ago we went out with a huge group and we were trying to teach everyone to surf; I couldn't get over how functional and well designed the transom was on the 226 that we were riding. In fact the whole experience with the boat left me gleaming. Again, I'm happy about the direction of the 216V.
I also support the idea of an affordable 211. It may not be the most "popular" in comparison to the rest of the CC lineup, but I'll bet dealers will sell more affordable 211's next year than anything else.
