Has anybody been denied a 25 hour service by a CC dealer?

Just wondering if anyone else has been denied a 25 hour service on their boats.

I went to the CC dealer that is local to my lake home (Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia) and he refused to perform the 25 hour service on my 2008 230TE. The owner of the dealership mentioned that if he serviced the boat (service that I would pay for) they might find warranty items and it is not profitable for him to do warranty work.

Anybody else run into a similar situation?

Well that's just wrong. Were you talking to the head honcho or a minion? I would hope the owners would know the value of a good customer relationship.

Did you buy the boat from him? (not that it should matter)

Sounds like there is something else going on....maybe your local dealer is unhappy that you never bought the boat from them??

I spoke to the owner of the dealership in VA, he is the one who personally denied me service, and gave me the explanation of why.

I bought the boat from Lake Cumberland Marine in Kentucky, great guys and yes, CC dealers.
Lake Cumberland were the ONLY dealership within 500 miles that would take my 38 ft Fountain in trade for a Nautique.

I just went through this with MC. They wouldn't negotiate on price on a leftover 08
X15 when I told them I will shop elsewhere they said they wound only work on it
after their boats were done if they had time . That ruined all trust and I went to CC
and tested the 230 and 210 . We are totally hooked on the 210 great wakes and
a lot less money The moral of the story is when a dealer plays the warranty card all they do is loose any chance of future sales. They need to ask themselves why did they loose the sale in the first place. If they don't make any money doing warranty work maybe they should think about getting into a different business . Sometimes when you just take care of someone it gets you additional customers in the future. When you slam a customer it usually will loose you a lot more .

I'm guesing the real reason for being denied is that you didn't buy the boat from him.....regardless of yr trade....he's not liking that there's a CC on that lake that he didn't sell........anyway....sounds like you need to make a road trip to Kentucky or to another CC dealer near by.....good luck....

I had a Tige that I bought from my local dealer which they serviced for 8yrs, and I spent a ton of money in gear & gas over those years too......, but when I took my nautique in for winterizing, they said they couldn't take on anymore work. I bet its' a similar scenerio....there just a little pissed they could not get in on the sale of the new boat. Oh well.....life is full of learning experiences....I bet the dealer & I learned something.

            PS
If you are really offended, you could take it up with CC in Florda, but I doubt you'd get anywhere.
Enjoy your 230, and take it for servicing/road trip......I might be one of those guys gooing over it as you drive by on the hwy....

I don't think there is any service provided at 25 hours that is free from the dealer, Right?

It sounds to me like it's time to send a letter and have a conversation at the people at Correct Craft. If he is truly denying you service based on the fact that there may be some warranty work, that goes against everything Bill Yeargin says in his interview. He wants the strongest dealer "network" out there. It sounds like your dealer may have lost some of his principles and values that Correct Craft say they promote. In any event I think getting a dialogue going with Correct Craft would be beneficial to both you and the dealer.

When you purchase from SECC in Orlando you get your 25 hour service for free - no questions.

I spoke with the Customer Service people at Correct Craft when I had my 25 hour service done. I called them to see if this service was supposed to be free, and CC said that it totally is at the dealer's discretion. He said that some of the more reputable dealers don't charge for the first oil change, but a lot of them do. I had to pay around $150 for a simple oil change and engine check. Correct Craft does pay dealers to prep your boat for pre-sale delivery though.

Personally, I think the standards of service should be the same for all CC's. Correct Craft should promote free service for the first year at least. We should be treated like BMW treats their new car buyers and include servicing. After all, these boats cost as much or more than a lot of luxury cars, but new boat owners are not treated as well sometimes, as the new car purchasers. This is an area that CC could really blow away the competition to promote all service free for 1 year.

The way I understand it the dealer you bought it from should pay your local dealer a few thousand dollars that is built in to the sale price for warranty work. Now obviously they don't have to but it might fix your whole situation. I was looking at buying from a dealer out of my region because I wanted a specific color. I was working with my local dealer through the process and they said that they were willing to contact the dealer and work out the service fee. If the other dealer agrees to pay then my local dealer could service the boat. Unfortunately my old boat still hasn't sold so I haven't bought....

We didn't buy from our local dealer (bought from dealer near vacation home so not breaking any area of responsibility rules). We decided to bring it home and we get all the warranty and other work done at our local dealer(Culver IN). They have given us excellent service with both warranty and other work. We will surely be purchasing and servicing current and future boats with them rather than other dealer. If a dealer told me they didn't want my warranty work I would be sure to tell them they didn't need to worry about any future sales or service either. As far as "free" service ect... it may be free, but you are paying for it one way or another. Just the same as you are paying for CC's warranty in the price of the boat. The warranty work is not liked by the dealer because they make less money on warranty work than other work. For ex. If their normal labor rate is $100/hr CC will only give them maybe $60/hr and they limit them to how long they can charge for each job. So if they normally charge 3 labor hrs for a job they may be limited to 2 under warranty. Also the parts are cheaper. If they drag their feet on other service work not under warranty they are IDIOTS and don't need to be in business.

I to have been to the Culver In dealer and you are right. They are one of the most friendly and helpful dealers in the area. I wound like to buy a 210 from them but they
no longer sell CC. As for the warranty repair rates I was a GM dealer mechanic for
19 years its true the dealer gives a discount to the manufacturer for warranty work
but they are also given a lot of service work because or warranty work performed.
That fact is its called service if you don't service your customers someone else will.
And if let another dealer service your customer then don't complain when they buy
                            their next boat from them.

There is still a CC dealer in culver. It is called Portside, they also sell Malibu. They look to sell more Malibu because they have very few CC's in inventory. This is the dealer that we have had a good experience with, it is not on the water, they are located on the west side of the lake, not sure what street it is. The dealer that switched to the dark side (MC) seems to be good also. I read your earlier posts about your local MC dealer, (I won't name names as I have never dealt with them, but assume it is the one directly north of Lowell off US 41), I have not heard much good about them as far as service goes.
