Trailer Problems

Can anyone with a 210, 211, or 226 show me a picture of the bow stop on their trailers.

Looking for a solution for my tandem DHM. Boat walks up the bunks until it hits the bow stops on my weekly road trips. I don't like the idea of my gel coat being rubbed off by the dry bunks.

DHM admits having trouble with the geometry of CC's V-Drives but does not have a solution. Power loading with the incorrect "geometry" is also impossible. 20 years of inboards and I'm back to my I/O days at the launch.

TO ALL.. Be sure to check the bolts that secure the leaf springs to the trailer are TIGHT! Lost a bolt in the lower link portion yesterday which resulted in the trailer "tilting" to one side severely resulting in sidewall tire rub hence a blowout. Took three hours to get it fixed as had to leave my baby on the side of the road and take the leaf links home cut the bolts out ( they had bent 90 degrees) find something that would work (taped a bunch of washers together to act as a bushing) then take tools, floor jack, and etc to get my baby home. Needless to say today will be spent on a trip to Northern Hydraulics for parts then home to find a new tire. Thank goodness for bias ply tires cause had they been radials I'd probably have some gelcoat damage too. Nothing like 100 steel whips working over a gelcoat. Anyway boat and driver okay just a bit PO'd that it happened. Just a little safety tip for all you guys. Hope this doesn't happen to you. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR LEAF SPRING BOLTS ARE TIGHT.

Radials are not all that bad. I had a tire come off my trailer, and the fender sat down on my tire. The steel belts kept the fender from causing a blowout. I have pics of the tire with a groove cut all the way down to the steel belts if you would like to see them. If I had bias tires, i would have probably had a blowout when the one tire came off, and quite possible could have lost control of the whole kit and kabootal.

I would rather have some gel-coat damage than loose a $40,00 truck and $50,000 boat because I was affraid of steel belts hitting my boat in the event of a blowout.

I have a bow roller instead of the typical v-stop you see on most nautique trailers. Even with that the boat walks up to the bow stop when not fully seated. I now do a quick "brake check" before getting on the road while at the ramp. I then crank the winch down good and tight to keep the boat from walking anymore. I also strap the back end down by the platform brackets to the trailer.

My trailer does not have a Keel Pad Or A Roller. When I took the Boat In for Service Yesterday I looked at other DHM's on 210's, 211, and 226. None of them had a Keel Pad Or Roller Either.

With the bounce of the bow, even when tight against the stops, the boat broke the winch. If I tighten the transom tie downs any further, I'll rip the brackets off.

I have the problem back in front of DHM. Hopefully they will come up with a solution and soon. After 11 years of sh*! for trailers, I'm on my last nerve.

That CC customer satisfaction survey should be comming any day. I can't wait.

Here's a pic of my 211 of a Dorsey trailer with a cajun bow stop. I've never had any problems with the boat walking up the trailor and I've been on several trips over 1K miles.....

Here is a pic of the loaner trailer my dealer gave me while my trailer was being built.

I was no totally thrilled with this trailer, but it got the job done just fine. The only major problem I had with it is the bow support chipped the gell coat from bouncing while driving down the road. (Not the bow roller, but the rubber V support lower down.

Notice both your trailers have keel gaurds, mine doesn't. When I call DHM back today, I'll ask why they started to omit them. I'm sure the reason was guys like me were tired of our old trailers with the keel pads rubbing through the gel coat. Maybe the lessor of two evils at this point.

Apparently my second post never took hold.

Here is my trailer that was custom made by Magnum Trailers of Austin, Texas.

It does not have the keel support, and I don't really think it is needed. I love how this trailer is made, and how it tows. There is one minor issue with how it loads. The bunks are spaced just a little too close together or the rear guides are placed a little too far back, because when it is power loaded the ends of the bunks hit the water intakes for the engine and the ballast if the boat is not perfectly centered on the trailer. I have taken out the center strainer vanes on one of the ballast intake from the bunk hitting it while loading. the only other thing I might change is having one 5,000 pound axles rather than having two 3,500 pound axles just so it turns better while backing, and by hand when in the garage.

My DHM works perfect for my Super Sport. It has a keel pad (carpet).

I am with you on the trailer issues, I dont know why nautique has specked or allowed a wishbone trailer without proper keel or bow support. My prestige wears my rub rail from the porposing of the nose, even with the clunky and stupid looking turnbuckle installed.

Some dealers are offering boatmate trailers, and from what I have seen on my friends malibus and moomba's its a nice working alternative. It has torsion axles, boat buddy as an option, proper bow support, and it is not a wishbone.

The other think that I hate is the acrea of plywood on my trailer covered by carpet, it takes it a week to dry out.
