Thats a lot of boat to handle with that short wheel base and relatively light vehicle. I tow my smaller Nautique with a Liberty and it handles that very well but I don't think it would handle another 1000 lbs of boat very well.

Wheel base and axle ratio are the key. I'd say a couple mile not and issue. More then 10 you'd be taking your life in your hands. I wouldn't but that's me.

If it's raining, don't expect any of your brakes to work.

4 door has a pretty decent wheelbase, and the Rubi will come with 4.10s, but you could easily have them upgraded to 4.56s or higher...

I don't think it would be much fun and hills will kill you. Of course it will pull the weight, but you would have a hard time stopping quickly or taking any evasive action.

Totally agree. Just like your boat, fully loaded it will not handle as well, feel sluggish, etc. If the vehicle is properly equipped and rated for the load then what's the problem?

Would not put much thought into the "No brakes in the rain" comment, however it would be interesting to hear some theory behind that comment.

You can tow it. Would you be safer with a larger vehicle? Probably. I would put disk brakes on the trailer, if it does not have them already, on both axles, if necessary. Disk brakes are less affected by water, and rain on them.
I have moved "classic" Super Air 210's with my Ford Aerostar van. Same boat as what you want to move. I did not go long distances, or over any mountians, just local tows around the Portland, OR. area.
I have towed my 1997 Ski Nautique around the Pacific Northwest, and down to Lake Shasta several times.
Do not be in a hurry, and leave a lot of following distance. Keep an eye out for other idiots on the road, and you should be fine.

Even though it's not hitched, I believe this guy uses his Jeep to haul his MC short distances. Longer wheelbase is much better but if the distances are short, the Jeep is probably fine. Changing gears to 4:56 probably isn't very cost effective.

I regularly pull my '03 SANTE 30m each way with my Cherokee Classic and it gets the job done. (Of course a larger vehicle would be ideal.) It's not the quickest vehicle, but get it in the right gear (it's a tank at 3000 rpms) and it won't even slow going up hills
I do have disc brakes on my trailer

(been pulling boats with it though since I bought it new 8 years ago)
                          4WD, 4.0L

I do use a weight distributing hitch though (check your owners manual, I've noticed Jeeps require this to reach the max towing capacity)

Your Jeep is rated for 200lbs more than mine, so it should get the job done ok
