Diff between SS Hull and S Hull

I want to know the difference between the 1995 to 2000 Super Sport Hulls and the 1995 to 2000 Hulls. I know the Super Sport is a V-Drive, and the Sport is a Direct Drive. Is there really no differece. Can I get by with buying a Sport DD and put a lot of ballast in it to get the same Super Sport Wake. The Sports are $5,000 cheaper. Thanks.

I don't know of the exact differences in hulls, but there is a lot of difference in the wake and handling of the boats due to their engine placements. You ought to drive and ride with each to see...

After spending last night searching the site, I think Ianswered my question. Acoording to one post, the Sport and Air use the TSC hull. The Super Sport and Super Air all use a wake hull. The wake hull is usually found in a V-Drive, except for a Pro Air that used a direct drive. The Pro Air was built from 99 to 02.

Can someone confirm I am correct. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Pro Air and the type of wake it produces. What does correct craft call the "wake Hull", ie TSC 2 or ? Thanks.

The Pro Air has a TWC hull, search for Miljack's winter ballast project, he has a few pics of his wake. Its very respectable but is not on par with its vdrive cousin. If you can fork out the extra cash, go for a super sport/air. Interior layout is worth it alone and it does not take much weight to make a huge solid wake.

Super sport/Super air hull ran from 95 through 2006. all changes above waterline. Running surface remained the same.

Running surface of the SS is the same, or pretty darn close to the running surface of the Sport Nautique hull of 93-97. Loading up the sport still won't produce an identical weight to the VDrive SS, but you can certainly create a very strong wake.

The TSC hull was introduced in 97 on Ski Nautique, and in 98 on Air Nautique.

TWC was it's own hull and appeared only on the Pro Air. While the Pro Air was the same dimensions
as the Sport/Air of those years, the hull featured a step, and lifting strakes designed to get the nose
up, and the stern down to create a larger wakeboard wake. It still could not compare with the wake, and
seating of the VDrive as a wakeboard boat, didn't provide that much better wakeboard wake than the
sport/air, and was not as strong a ski boat as the sport/air. Thus, only a 4 year lifespan.

You can see photos of the running surfaces of the boats in the Sales brochures of the relevant years.
