    2007 236 vs 2008 230 - big price difference, why?

I am starting to see 2007 236 TE's listed in the mid to high 50's fully optioned with trailer. I have seen some loaded 2008s as low as just under 70k - which I believe is close to cost. How different are the 08 SAN 230 vs the 07 Crossover 236? I know there is about a 15hp difference in the Z06 and you get zero off - vs perfect pass, but are there any other interior or exterior differences? I am in the market and have been looking mostly at the Malibu 23's and 247. I want a boat that produces a great wake with stock ballest and can handle rough water without beating you up. I also like lots of power. I can see the market is really rough right now and view it as an opportunity to buy. Is an 08 really worth 10k more then an 07? Thoughts?
    Thanks!

If the 236 comes with ballast, and tower you are looking at exactly the same boat. They are the exact same size. The 236 was marketed more towards the family, whereas the 230 for the wakeboarder. The only exterior differences on the 230 are going to be the edgier crest graphics (which is an option) and the interior has a different pattern on the skins from the 236, though very minor. Is the '08 worth the extra money? I guess you have to consider 1 year of depreciated value on the '07 and your future resale value on each. Similarly when you compare prices on the nautique super sport that is optioned like a super air versus a super air nautique from the early 2000s you will find the same price discrepancy even though they are essentially the exact same boat. I cant explain the reasoning behind this other than the market determines the value. You might consider holding off for a little while because people will be looking to unload boats to order a new model, dont want to winterize/store, etc, etc....

If you're looking for a 23ft + boat I bet you can find a lot of great deals right now. Nobody wants to pay the high gas prices thus the 21-22 boats are moving much faster. I've ridden the 230, 236, 23LSV's and 247 quite a bit and all throw a great wake and handle rough water very well. Although, you'll still need more weight than the stock ballast IMO. If it was me... I would try finding a 1-2 year old 230 that either a dealer or private seller is having trouble trying to move. The fit and finish of the 230/236 blows the 23LSV and 247 away. But like I said, you'll be happy with any of the wakes.
