    2001 Floor/stringer restoration

I have '89 2001 I have owned for about a year and looking for ideas on reflooring stringer. it has a small spot infront of pylon that will need attention soon, not sure on stringers condition but the bolts don't turn next to engine floor. The interior is in decent condition which leads me to believe a cover was kept on it often....

what's cost usually run.. time involved....some recommendations on installers, i may have a personal friend that could do the job as well. weighing my options for winter projects.

Don't count on just the fact that the engine mount bolts don't turn to tell you if there is any rot. This is only a preliminary non-invasive test usually done when looking at a boat to purchase. The rot is usually lower near the hull. The only real way to tell is to remove some of the glass on the stingers. A hole saw works great.

Yes, there are two great pictorial threads on CCfan showing the complete process. Material lists, do's and don'ts, etc. Look for "weeding the pumpkin patch" in the maintenance forum. Now, it should be on about the 2nd or 3rd page. It's a long one so get ready to do some reading!!!

Hopefully the personal friend you mentioned to do the job isn't the same person who told you to try turning the bolts on the engine mounts.

If you find ANY bad spots, I recommend a complete stringer job and not just scabbing in a patch. Rot is like cancer. If there is rot in one place, the spores that cause it are in other places too just waiting for the moisture.
