    Loud nautiques?

am I the only one that enjoys them? my 02 330ex sounds like a beast (exhaust is probably done?!) and I'd still like to get closer to that ''baja'' sound.
does anybody feel the same way or am I just weird..?

    RE: Loud nautiques?

I think my 220 sounds nice and throaty................better than my 211 did. But not too loud. I woudn't want the engine noise to cover the sound of the stereo.

I don't think your weird. I do sometimes like the sound of a baja or whatever racing across the lake, sounding like a dragster. Seems like every time I hear that, I look up and see a big boobed blonde sitting next to an old man thats driving the boat!!

My previous boat was a 1982 SN 2001(not barefoot hull) with the big block 454...rare boat that I am still kinda regreting that I let go. Anyway, my cousin rebuilt/modified the boat and ended up not only removing the muffler, but also increasing the exhaust outlets to equal the manifold outlet diameter. I had several people tell me that it was too loud for Sunday am sets before church, but true enthusiasts got goose bumps and so did I everytime I fired it up and slammed the throttle! My 08 sounds good enough to remind me that I'm not in a V6 I/O and I do enjoy being able to hear the stereo...if you're weird then I guess I need some help too.

You are not alone at all. I've actually seen a nautique with turndowns, where the pipe came out of the back and had a 90 degree angle on it. There was a switch that would turn the angle down into the water for less sound, or out towards the sides for more sound. I think it's a baja option that they put on there, or modified somehow. It was nice though!

we were just talking about that this weekend. we were sitting in the middle of the lake (kids jumping off the back, us just enjoying the day) when this boat went zooming by. it sounded like 40 custom harley's in a parade.
i can't say that i'm a fan of all that noise. i'm all for having good speakers, but imagine how loud it would be if everyone's boat had been modified like that.
            but that's just me. Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I love the way my 330EX sounds with the fresh-air-exhaust... more noise from the inside than the outside, nice and quiet.

I did my time hanging out in the drag boat scene helping a buddy tune a 800HP injected/blown 468 inch Chevy with zoomies. Nothing in a ski boat pumps the adrenaline like standing on the cavitation plate and cracking the butterfly while facing a 3" toothed blower belt.

you can pull the silencer off and put captain call on any boat for the throaty "baja" sound or quiet at the flip of a switch
