    220 vs 211

Considering a new Nautique--I like the classic direct drives, but acknowledge the better layout of the V drives in a given hull size so the SV 211 seems like a good tradeoff, but I like the overall size of the SAN 220. Would the ski experience be much degraded vs the 211 as it really a wakeboard boat?

    Thanks for any input

the only real answer is try it out. The 211 is the only CC v-drive certified for C-class tournaments, but it's no DD. However, there have been several comments throughout where people ski behind Wakeboard boats. As always, a personal choice.

My suggestion is to make sure you check out the new 216v. It hasn't been officially announced that it has a good ski wake, but my gut says it's in league with at least the 211. But you've gotta like the Roswell tower or get it without a tower.

No Slalom on the 220. You can slalom on the 211, but it is not as good as a regular ski boat. 211 is too small for our whole volleyball team to go all at once, comfortably (11 girls plus me driving) and the 220 can do the whole team easily.

pm me if you want to talk on this as I have a 220 now and have owned 2 sv-211's.

I slalom, kids wakeboard, wife likes to take family (and there are lots of them) for rides in the boat, girlfriend wakeskates, we've all become addicted to surfing. We demo'd so many boats we got tired of demo'ing. 211 was the best boat for us. Any of the boats big enough to carry any number of people would have ended my days of skiing. It simply wouldn't have been fun. The 211 is no 196 or 197, but it works well enough. NEVER judge how many people can fit by the mfr numbers. The 211 is officially 9 people and the X-2 is 11. Realistically each holds the same (5 when skiing, 9 just riding around). Any more and it's too crowded. Take the boat out with the number of people you want to carry and see how everyone fits for 30 minutes on the water. And definitely try a 216v.

BTW, my son said he'd like to take the volleyball team out on my parents boat on Lake Wehapa. :-)
