Is it true that while correct craft only covers parts for the second owner of a boat under the warranty period? I really don't understand why they would offer the best warranty in the business to the first owner, and almost nothing to the 2nd owner. Is this how the correct craft warranty works? Don't the other big players (MC, Malibu, and Skiers Choice) have better coverage for 2nd owners?

RE: Correct Craft - worst warranty in the business for 2nd o
Not sure what you're talking about exactly. My understanding is that it's a 5 -year warranty and 3-year transferable. So if you buy a used boat that is less than 3 years old then you'll have a full warranty. I don't think any of the other player come even close to that.

Out of curiosity.... I am the second owner and have the rest of the warranty. I take my boat in to diagnose a problem that turns out to be warranty related parts. I get the parts for free and go home to install. I'm assuming I'll have to pay the labor $/hr charge for the diagnosing. Can I walk into the dealer and order replacement warrantly parts w/o having to pay you to look at it? I'm doubting this...

This is from 2006-2007. I don't know if it's changed since then.

I recently purchased an 06 SV211 and called CC for info on transfering the warranty. The 5 year warranty cost $300 to transfer and only covers parts. The lifetime hull warranty costs another $300 to transfer. You can also transfer the PCM warranty for an additional $100. The catch is that you have to have the engine checked out by a certified PCM mechanic before they will transfer the PCM warranty. The dealership will be happy to fill out the form for an additional $200. Then the forms and checks must be postmarked within 15 days of purchase.... I gave up and put the extra $1000 dollars in my checking account and will take my chances... If i run into a problem with the boat... i know were to find the first thousand dollars for the repairs..

PCM transferred mine w/o official inspection...but I bought from a dealer and they did fill in the form. Cheap insurance for an expensive engine in a "second hand" boat.
I also transferred the two CC warranties. Already they have sent me one part to install on my own. The part value was more than the warranty. I sent the old one back in their prepaid box. I probably wouldn't pay a dealer to do the work anyway...might as well get a free part.
The structural warranty was probably not necessary but it made me feel better. I will probably own this boat a long time.
I love CC....at least the "old CC" ...not sure about the new one yet.

You do not have to pay to transfer most car warranties. Most cars are warrantied from 3 years of the in service date (some brands are longer), regardless of the number of owners. Also - with car warranties - the coverage does not change for the 2nd owners. That is what sucks about the Nautique warranty - I don't have a problem with paying a fee to transfer - but to drastically change the terms of the origional warranty is pretty cheap for a company that brag about having the best warranty in the business.
