Just curious if you think upgraded ballast will hurt my boats retail. I am in the process of removing the hard tanks on my SAN and replacing them with bags and a ski locker bag. Thanks for your replies, I really am curious to hear what you have to say. It is going to be a lot more time on the water for me instead of filling bags for 20 minutes or longer every time out.

RE: Will upgraded ballast hurt value?
They make sacks that sit on top of your rear factory tanks. Once the tank is full it starts filling the sac. The center I don't know about. You can always return it back to stock if you decide to sell. Make the boat to how it fits your needs, not someonelse's, just look at all the things I've done to mine. If I sold my boat I probably wouldn't get any of my money back, but while I owned it it was the way I wanted it!!!!

Wake_fun - while you're in THAT frame of mind, why don't you scoot on over to the classifieds and make a pitstop... hehehehe pm when you do!!! In other words, you have a beautiful boat that's obviously been well cared for...
I don't think upgrades hurt the value on a boat, especially when they are done correctly and look clean, like Wake_fun's. Now, it's a different story when you're explaining to your potential buyer that you just have to steer with your toe for a little bit while you hold up this flap, and then lift the rear seat and peel off that duct tape...Travis Fling

RE: Will upgraded ballast hurt value?
Thanks guys, it is going to be a lot more functional which I can wait for. Right now it feels like 20 minutes of filling v-drive sacs and a front sac just to board. Then the most upsetting part is after you get it ready then the lake turns to crap and you wish you were surfing. Then its a few more minutes to empty/relocate the bags for surfing only to do it all again at the end of the day when the lake turns to butter again.
Wake_fun, how do you like the weight you have set up. I was going to either do the 750's in the rear or the 400's with a 650 in the locker.2016 SAN 210

RE: Will upgraded ballast hurt value?
What I have is fine. But I also run six 55lb lead bars in my boat. I got them years ago at a boat show, coated also. I run two on each side in the rear (under sac) and two up under the bow area (the space between the floor and open bow seating area.

RE: Will upgraded ballast hurt value?
Do you have your batteries in the back area? My sacs fit from the battery all the way to the back. I don't know how big the 750's your looking at, but you would be pushing against everything with that big of a sac. I guess if they were just taller that would be ok. You can see them in my ballast install #2 thread (not filled up though).

You are making the assumption that an aftermarket ballast is an upgrade.
To a buyer who doesn't consider this an upgrade, you will either harm value, or fail to increase
value.
To a buyer who consider this to be an upgrade, you may recieve a bit more at sale, but not likely.
Just as you rarely get you money out of installing expensive stereo systems, you're not likely to get you money out of the ballast.

wake, I do not have the carpet board in there any longer. They were cracked and pretty much useless. My batteries are not in boxes, not sure if there is enough room or not. I will try to take a pic this weekend.
BKH, I am not so sure I agree with you on that particular era of boat. The factory ballast systems at that time were less than adequate. While there may be a couple people out there who have no use for it, most folks buying these boats would enjoy the benefit of a super fast, hidden ballast system. You may not get additional money, but you would have a stonger selling point and be able to hold your ground a bit better on your price, and certainly not harm the value.
Just my opinion....the WakeSlayer
