    Zero Off

Right now, my boat has the basic cruise. I will be adding either ZO or PPSG. I am leaning toward ZO for a couple of reasons: ease of operation and it seems to be the standard speed control for the future.
My question is, has anyone had any problems with ZO? I don't mean whether or not you like the pull through the course. If you have had the system not work, I would like to know that.

I have read a lot of PP have had screen issues and module issues. I also would rather not have to add weight, KX, etc (don't really know all of the inputs).
    Thanks in advance.

    RE: Zero Off

Go with ZO. It is certainly the system that will be most widely-used going forward. In the course, you shouldn't have any trouble with it. Some people have complained about issues driving under bridges where it will act funny for a split second, but stargazer would probably do the same thing. I have had both (actually I have had both in the same boat at the same time), and once I put ZO in, I never even turned PP on ever again. ZO was that good.

      have both in my 07-196.
ZO retrofitted about 4 weeks ago.
      Now never use PPSG.
ZO is so easy to use and super fast responding to speed adjustments.
      Definately ZO

Your decision solely lies on what sort of waterway you use. If your main use is lakes zero off is golden, in tidal or river flow a system with a paddle wheel is better.

I have never been in a boat with ZO, but from what I read if you change lakes or like me have a portable course that you have to remove every time you are finished you would have to reset the ZO where with the SGPP you will not have to do that with the use of one magnet on each end of the course.

I have PPSG and I love it, Easy to install, setup and use. Also the people at PP are great to work with. One of the guys at our lake had trouble with his and they helped with it for weeks, in the end it was total user error.

You do have to map new courses with ZeroOff, but it remembers them automatically when you go back. That should not be a factor at all, only takes around 30 seconds. Much easier than hanging a couple of magnets on your portable course.

Thanks for the replies, but I am really trying to find out if anyone has had problems with ZO. I have had a few "new" products and I don't want to be the one working out bugs.
I know PP will stand behind their product and fix anything that goes wrong, so that is not much of an issue. Plus PP has been around for a long time, so most problems have been fixed or can easily get worked out.

My boat had Nautique cruise when I bought it. Replaced it with ZO and it has worked perfect. No problems what so ever.

This is my first boat with any kind of speed control but I must say that ZO works great and it's simple to use. So far no problems with the ZO but I've only had the boat out twice since the purchase a couple weeks age.

Well we leave the magnets on the gates so it doesn't take any time at all when we put the course in or out. If you are lucky have a perminate course then ZO would work well I'm sure, but if you have PP cruise then it might be more cost effictive to just upgrade to SGPP. Bart

We move our course once per week and as mentioned above it takes about 30 seconds to put the new course in. Non issue as far as I'm concerned. ZO is very easy to use and works well. Like it or not it is also the only system that will be approved for future tournament use so if you plan to compete at all you'll want ZO on your own boat.

My one complaint was that when I purchased a new boat in July '08 with ZO the software installed was a year old and had some fairly serious bugs. Updating the software requires a special cable that ZO charges $200 for (and since I'm apparently the only person in my Nautique dealers world that has ZO he didn't want to spend the bucks on the cable himself.) In any case, why they couldn't have designed it to use a $15 USB cable like every other similar device in the world I don't know. Fortunately someone on here sent me theirs so I could get the software updated.

sounds to me like ZO are after your money if they designed a cable that cost that much.

i love ZO. I bought my 08 promo about a month ago. Have about 20 hours on it and no problems so far. ive used the boat at a few different courses. you dont have to re map the course to use ZO. you wont get your times , but you know they will be perfect. after all its ZO! we only ski 34 and my times have never varied outside of 16.94-16.96.
