    Mastercraft and $25,000 rebate

Have a friend who just purchased a 2008 X-2 for a little over cost and the boat also came with a $25,000 rebate. I have never heard of this. Dealer said it is only redeamable 36 months from purchase during a 7 day window. I guess most people are hiring lawyers to make sure they don't forget. That would be a tough lesson to learn if you forgot about a $25,000 rebate. Reminds me of the line in Dumb and Dumber with the IOU for the Lamborgini.

Has Correct Craft ever done anything like this? I would love to get a new Nautique for $25k off the purchase price in a few years.

          It's real.
I was only aware of the $10,000 rebate but there might be a $25000 as well.
Thing is there are some VERY tight restrictions on getting the money back.
You must have the original bill of sale (not a copy), registration and a whole list of other things. There are a couple of good threads about this on the mastercraft forum. Some got paid and others had to fight for it.

The company that does this, not mastercraft, is betting that people will not have the documentation and/or they will have sold the boat before the years are up.

After all that has gone on in the financial world in the past week or so but I would be surprised if this program continues.

Tell your buddy congrats on the X-2! Did he get it at Midwest?
Sold my boat to buy a house, the house is much less fun.

You can be sure MC is planning on many people not meeting the exact terms of the rebate offer, and not "qualifying" for the rebate. This is an incentive to move last years stock. I am not interested in any MC, so I have not looked at the exact terms of the rebate, but I am guessing that it only applies to the original owner. If it does, you are stuck with a MC for three years, and if you wanted to sell it, you would be trying to sell a three year old boat during a bad time of the year to sell a boat.

I had a friend get a $10,000 offer on a Malibu. His three years are up next year. It is not offered by MC but by the dealer.

He did. I hope this makes it over to Correct Craft. If so I will be calling Son up very quick. I wonder if you could sell the $25k for $20k and then not wait. I'm sure some financial person would take that on.

They had this same deal at the Texas Ski Ranch in New Braunfels. It sounded awfully shady to me...The dealer was willing to give me another $3k off the boat if I did not do the rebate program. Said it was not backed by Mastercraft, but some rebate company. They said it was the same rebate company that Home depot and Lowes use for Appliances. I was looking at a new X-35...Don't worry I am getting a 236 Team! MC needs monster rebates to push those production boats out the door.... Let me know if you see Cobalt or Lexus doing this...I think not!

Scan the check and post a picture of it here. Local MC dealer had an offer like that a few years ago and it was a scam. No one ever saw the rebate.

I was looking at a new X15 this summer the dealer
told me about the rebate. You have to supply certain
info at different times. If any part isn't done exactly
correct you loose. It also costs 750.00 per 5000.00
in rebates. If all goes right you wont get any money
until 3 years later. You don't have to keep the
boat as long as you send in the required documents
at the correct time. It was very tempting but it felt
wrong especially when the dealer made it very clear
it was not a MC program and don't call them if anything
goes wrong. Seemed like buying a 25000.00 lottery
ticket for 3500.00. If I were still interested in a MC boat
I don't think I would use the rebate. I like the CC210 wakes
better than the MC and I am working on ordering a 09 .
I would sure be interested if CC had any year end sales promotions.
