I feel for you guys/gals when reading the posts on winterizing and storage, then imagine the fun you must have with the winter toys!

agree on the picture, it would make a good december shot except Santa is out of frame, maybe he was taking the shot?

This was the week before the pic with the snow - one cove was iced in, you could pull up to the edge, crawl onto the ice, and put your ski on. This is a friend of ours starting from the ice... You could ski for about 2 miles out on the lake then there was more ice! Luckily, there was open water to get to the river with the ramp...

This is the definition of somebody who's GOTTA ski! Question is this: do you ski in the summer, or is it not enough of a challenge? Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

The guy in the picture is more diehard than most of us, I must admit. We don't do much wakeskating with ice like that around, a ski is a quick workout and it's nice when there are no other boats on the lake. You can wait until it's dead flat and just go make a quick run. Again, the guy in the picture skis more days of the year than anyone I've ever met - for someone who lives in NH that is.
To the original topic, the last of the boats are coming out today... always a sad day! We do have easy access to one, though (old supra), if we wanted to take a thanksgiving boat ride - just hook the hoses back up and pull it out of the storage building. Batteries will come out once ice goes in.

Think about coming down to the Charlotte/Mooresville area for our New Years Day Barefoot Challenge Tournament. This is always a good time for those who ski and simply come to be amused.

For that matter how about any of those who are not concerned with 45 to 55 degree water should come and enjoy the fun. The host team (Carolina Show Ski Team) does a good job of hosting this event with plenty of Chili, Hot Dogs, Hot Choclate and Coffee.

If you are into barefooting the local celebs show up and put on a good show along with some quality announcing from the one and only John Gillette.

Squam, you guys are nuts. I used to ski on New Years on the Mississippi with the Bald Eagle skit club. I think I went 7 years in a row, ending on NY2K. I skiied, air chaired and kneeboarded. i have long since given it up though.
I winterized the boats on 18Oct for the year. All tucked in for the winter now.

qstufflebeam: My cabin is north of Sandpoint on the Upper Pack River. I just got back an hour ago from my fall trip.
Winterized the cabin at 6am today. All tucked in for a couple of months. Will be back out around early January. Where are you located ?

                        Wakeslayer,

I live in South East Idaho(Blackfoot) about 2 hours South of W. Yellowstone and 2 1/2 N. of Salt Lake City. My work takes me to N. Idaho quite a bit. In fact I have a land development on the Pend oreille river about 8 miles S. of Sandpoint. Do you ski at Scwheitzer in the winter?

Are there any slalom courses on the Pend Oreille? I fly in to Sandpoint and I am always looking for slalom courses. I have yet to see one.

                          qstufflebeam,

I only get out on Pend Oreille once a summer. I have not yet taken my own boat out as my cabin is extremely remote, and no way to take a boat up there. There are a couple guys from up there on this forum, Pendo was one guys screen name. Not sure about courses on PoR, there are some really good boarders in Bottle Bay. Where south of Sandpoint? like Dufort Road area?
I do get up to Schweitzer a couple times a year. Our cabin is North, one ridge over from there. Great place to ski, just got written up again in a couple of the snowski mags.

Yep, we are counting the days till spring. Lake levels drop here in mid October so regardless of water temps we have to give it up anyway. Just found end of season deal on 226 and looking forward to wakesurfing next spring. We have a great 88 Martinique we have had for many years but must part with it come spring when the boat market is better. This is a great time to buy but bad time to sell.

I grew up in central FL a few miles from the old water ski hall of fame & cypress gardens. I can recall going skiing on christmas day and that was no wetsuit.
