    2001 Pro Air Nautique?

I am thinking about trading in my '98 Sport for an '01 Pro Air. The Pro Air has a 275 hp carb engine. Have any of you guys riden/driven a Pro Air with only 275 hp? What are your thoughts. I will hopefully get a chance to drive it this weekend but your feedback is appreciated.

Wouldn't it be easier to put an Air package on your Sport? Personally I see it as getting a boat that is 3 years younger, but with a discontinued hull....while giving up what many consider the best wakeboarding hull ever developed.

Of course that is just my opinion and I could be wrong on the hull theory, but am pretty sure that is the story.

Are you saying that the hull on the '98 sport is better than the hull on the '01 Pro Air? I think converting my Sport in an Air would cost close to the same as trading it in.

tmb, what motor do you have in the 98 Sport? If its the GT-40, I would stick with it and do the conversion to the Sport.

TMB....I don't like to say better or worse....who am I to judge. But I will say that I have always been under the impression that the hull on the Sport is the same hull under the Super Sport.....which turns into a SAN with the air package = tower, ballast & graphics. So if the hull on your current boat is the same hull many argue has the best wake in the business, why change to a hull that has been discontinued?

          Again....just an opinion....

TMB is your 98 EFI GT-40? You will not be able to get rid of the Pro Air if you put too much in it. I think the pro air hull is not very demanded. Look on Boat Trader online and see what both boats are bringing. EFI will spoil you if you ever have it. Hard to sell non EFI late model boats.

Well I'm definitely not getting the pro air. I checked it out in person & it's not as nice as I was told.

You say that EFI will spoil me. Why? Is it just because of fuel economy?

Power, instant starts, responsiveness; although the dealer would have to service any problems. It is not like when I would take the carb off and go have it rebuilt on my some of the '89 Nautiques I have had. I have had 5 Nautiques with EFI and never had any problems. The resale is better on EFI boats for whatever reason.
