How much aftermarket ballast to you have in your SANTE?

    I guess since you and your friends havent heard of them, they must suck they are pretty popular on the west side of the country.

    the website is http://www.pop-products.com/

    they are pricey compared to fly high sacs (hey i use fly high and pop for wakesurfing) but you can really dial in a wake with them since they can be moved easily . it really firms up and cleans up a wake big time

    they are also good for cleaning up the wake and dialing it in without moving people around (most people have 4-5 of them on hand to move around for this purpose or to weight the bow down. Like a older 210 hull which is really weight sensitive)

    the drawback is hauling them in the tow vehicle.

        i was just saying that i have never heard of pop bags and have been boarding for a long time and have been around the pro scene and never seen/heard them either. it doesnt mean they dont work. the new fly high sacs are great but the threads need to be stainless steel. you know used dumbells are great for movable weight.

          type of weight does make a difference---in where you can locate the weight. the difference in your wake is likely related to the density of the lead and the fact that you can fit more of it in a smaller space. in my 230, i can fit a fly high 750 lb sac in the back locker. i bet i can fit 750 lbs of pop bags in just the back third of the locker, and that would completely affect the wake.

          either way, the water has no idea what your boat it is made of or what it has in it...the only thing it knows is archimedes nailed it w/ his principle...

            I go to a local engineering company and pick up what they call core samples. They are very slick, smooth concrete cylinders and weigh about 25 pounds a piece. we put a few on both port and starboard back corners of our 220 as well as a few on each side of the bow. great wake and when we get ready to surf just move a few from one side to the other and empty a ballast. They are free!

              I will say the one nice thing about water ballast is that when you empty them the gas mileage goes back up......hard to do that with lead or concrete!

                2800 pounds total, all plumbed of course. I normally run around 2100 for boarding.

                  that's some mad plumbing dwhitt, are you mario or luigi? i've got my wedge sacs plumbed but cant do a bow sac b/c i have abattery under the bow port seat but i really wanted to do it. how's yours work? i guess i'll take a hint from my old x2 and put in another wet sounds 12 under the driver's seat and just remove that little cooler up front for the box. anyway, plumbing is great for boarding

                    How is the wake with the fly high system installed in the 230 team? My dealer is going to install the fly high systme for me in my 230 before I pick it up.

                      I moved my 2nd battery to the back with the 1st battery and cut out the bow cooler. It was quite a project but it is so nice not to get out pumps and sacs and take up seating. It's worth the effort. Make it your winter project!

                        anyone using the pop bags? What size are they? My wife thinks she can make something similar, I'd try to find a machine shop with suitable scrap to fill them with. 40lbs seems like a good target weight.

                          They are 40 pounds per bag. - I looked around and made some calls before purchasing them, sure you can make something similar but for 400 pounds of pops delivered for $375. Maybe I'm just lazy but why bother with trying to reinvent the wheel. Although scrap prices have come down, good luck getting scrap steel for much less. Especially upwards of several hundred thousand tiny pieces of steel.

                            Can't say I disagree with you, my wife LOVES crafts. She's excited about making these. I've got friends that own machine shops that I'm pretty sure will give me some scrap for free. 40 pounds sounds like a good managable size, some target dimentions would be nice.

                                Any problem with storing the pop bags on top of the rear factory tanks (empty or full)?
