Which boat is that comment in reference to? The difference is much greater than that on the 196- I suspect 6-8mph. Ive driven a 196 with the 409 that will do 55+, which is a big difference if you barefoot. I dont think the holeshot of the ZR6/409 is really much (if any) improved over the Excal, so if you dont do any footing, etc, a prop change might be even more beneficial than the upgraded engine.

By the way, the GT40 didnt have great lungs up top, but it would spank either of these Chevies out of the hole.

I was referencing the bigger boats. You make a very vaild point regarding the 196 and barefooting.
