Anyone ever heard of the MSO (manufacturer Statement of Origin),the paper work that states a boat's year model that comes with a boat and the year model that is stamped on the hull itself (the stamp on the rear, starboard side) not match??

RE: Why would the MSO & year model hull stamp not match?
I think this can happen when production year is different than model year. For example, current '09s will be stamped CTCxxxxxx09 but the production year on the MSO will be 2008.2003 SANTE

I've owned a boat made very early in the year that actually had a hull ID from the previous year. I believe the hull ID's are created when the hull is layed up.Shane Hill

CC had to do another one for my 07 216. They need to match. Make sure the motor numbers match too.

RE: Why would the MSO & year model hull stamp not match?
It's likely a clerical error. However, the year of origin is not necessarily the model year. Boats built the last months of a year are generally next year's model.
Here is the explanation of the Hull Identification number from a 2001 Owner's manual.
"The hull identification number is a requirement of the U.S. Coast Guard for boat manufacturers. It is a standardized numbering system that assigns a specific sequence of numbers and letters to a specific boat. This number is molded into the hull. You will find it on the right-hand side of the transom just below the rubrail. Write this number down in your records and keep it in a safe place away from the boat.
Here is a brief explanation to help you understand the hull number:
The first three digits represent Correct Craft, Inc. (CTC). The next five digits are the boat's serial number. The following digit is a letter from "A" through "L" designating the month the boat was made.
There are three remaining numbers. The first of these represent the last digit of the year the boat was built. The final two numbers state the MODEL year. A boat built in August of 2000 is actually a 2001 model boat."
