    2001 SN stereo cover

I recently purchased a model year 2001 SN 196 and the stereo is mounted on the panel to right of the driver. There is no cover over the stereo. I've seen photographs of other 2001 196s that look identical.

I have also seen photos of more than one 2000 196 that looks like it has a vinyl upholstered cover over the stereo.

I'd like to find out what this cover. Should my 2001 also have the cover or was it deleted for the 2001 model year.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

here is a photo I found of a 2000 196 on the internet. It shows a cover over the stereo unit to the right of the drivers seat. Was this cover standard? My 2001 doesn't have the cover.

The 2001 and 2002 stereo's where waterproof and doesn't need the cover. Therefore these model years doesn't have a cover.

        Laptom,

So CC must have made a design change from 2000 to 2001 to make them waterproof.

        Thanks for the answer.

It is not CC who made these waterproof, but Clarion did come out with the CMD series which are waterproof.
I always hated the cover on our 2000 SAN stereo. It was difficult to adjust the stereo settings (volume) while driving the boat.
