9 from an '89 Nautique

5 riding in the 1985 Southwind 20 and 5 skiing

Probably 3 or 4 at the most. Never more than two from the tower.

6 footers behind 88 ski nautique, got up on doubles then dropped down to slaloms before stepping off at 36mph.

5 footers just as above but started on slaloms. No power to spare on that one the slalom pull was long.

we got tired of starting over because somebody got dumped on that long pull. no excuses on the doubles. pretty sure we were close to full throttle to maintain the 36 once we stepped off.

We attempted nine, but only got six. We emptied out the cabin and the boats to find enough hardware! I couldn't find the picture of the skiers who made it up.

The thought crossed my mind to temporarily hook another boat in series to help with the initial pull, but common sense told me otherwise. I know it's a bad idea (and will never attempt it), but has anyone ever tried using two boats in series at the start?

I have seen it done at some show ski tournaments by teams that do not have Twin or Triple rig Hydrodynes. Also saw a demo done pulling a dozen plus kids on combos, the tow boat was a MC that had a custom trans setup spinning twin props, 1 port & 1 starboard.

I skied with 55 others behind one of the Blue and Golds in San Francisco bay in 1982. We tried for 110 but the boat only had the power to pull half of us up.

Six guys all with girls on their shoulders doing a dock start. 04 196 w/Excalibur. This was about all this boat could do. Ropes came tight at about 10 mph. Hooked a big loop through the rear lifting ring and put the ski ropes through it. When starting the ski ropes pull up on the rear lifting ring and get the back of the boat out of the water and up on plane.

Don't know how they start...the start is hidden behind the island. Next year I'll sneak a peak from the backside to see how they do it. There is a dock back there...so probably 6 on skis...6 on shoulders like the photo above.

I believe the boat is a 206 w/6.0L

My boat is a 1997 Ski Nautique, GT-40 engine. 2075 hours.

Airtool, gotta be shoulder starts off of a dock, girls could start off skis but leaves a mess with all of the dropped skis in the water.

Nice pic DanielC, I had the GT-40 in my 99 and my opinion was it had better pull down low, which is what you need, than the chevy.

I would like to compare my GT-40 against one of the new 343 GM 350 engines.

At a certain point, I don't want that much strain on my pylon. I'll leave the heavy lifting to the show ski boats.
