Noob Question, recomendation on 2001 SAN

Hi guys, just thought i would poll you guys for information on a boat i am looking to purchase. It is a 2001 SAN. It has low hours and looks to be in great shape. My question is what are some common things i should look out for, or pay particular attention to? Any help or advice for soon to be first time Nautique owner would be appreciated. Thanks
    Ryan

Be wary of the low hours. The digital guages in the boat were known source of failure. Mine have been replace four times. The hour meter read 75 hours, but I actually have
    about 500 on the boat.

I second BKH's comment re: the gauges. I looked at several 2000-2002 SANs for sale. It was amazing to me how they all had incredibly low hours. I came to learn of the issues with the digital gauges. Check to see if the owner has swapped the gauges for analog Faria. If not, they will likely need to be replaced at some point which is not that big of a deal. Otherwise, the 2001 is a great year.

Also, for some reference, here are the brochure and manual for that boat:

Good luck and post pics if you get it.

It was easy to tell the digital gauges had been changed on My 2000 and I was honest about hours when I sold mine. My gauges reset to zero and telex sent me new ones. My old gauges had black trim rings and the only new ones they made for 02 according to them were gray. So I had a gray speedometer and tach and the rest of the gauges were black.

Depending on what you are looking to spend - I would look at all potential years available - you can get a 2006 210 here at the new Nautiques of Orlando for $39k
check out their site for slightly older models as well http://www.orlandonautiques.com/usedboats.html

Look out for jealous malibu owners

no just kidding the guages are the only big thing and not a big one at that. Your dealer will sell you a kit for I think 125 to replace your busted digital if it still has them.

Thanks guys, the Gauges have black rings on them, but guessing that isnt always a clear sign they are original. The owner is getting his service records together so that should help in determining authenticity of hours. So hopefully everything is on the up and up. I do have precautions of purchasing a boat without a wet test. It is stored for the winter at a dealer, so i am hoping they can give it a check-up and let me know if there is something i should beware of.
