Can you mod or add a flip-up seat

Tried searching any didnt come up with much. Is it possible to modify or add a flip-up bolster seat to a early SAN? I've seen the mailbu DIY http://www.wakesiderides.com/nautiqu...cle.php?id=162 but has anyone tried or achieved making or adding one to their boat?

As long as the seat is similar, I would assume it would work. You might want to verify that with your local dealer though.

how much were the parts for that project?

Hey guys,
I went through this project a couple of years ago, and I used Jeff's writeup as a guide, however, the seats changed in '02, so you will need an '02 or later to use the parts directly from Nautique. If you want the newer seat, it's going to cost you about $700 (prices from '05/'06).
I was able to do a flip up bolster on my '99 model seat, but it wasn't easy. I did a bunch of research, and ended up finding the Malibu article referenced in this post. The CC hinges can be sourced, but not readily, the problem will be getting the hinges mounted to the older seat base. I tried using the "T" nuts as CC uses, but if you're having to add them, it's a pain, the seat bases are hollow on the earlier models. I ended up getting some of the Tnuts installed, and then used nuts and bolts for the other spots (I had a lot of fun fishing large washers inside the seat base to line up with my bolts, think that old game with ball trying to get it though a maze with tilting table thingy).
You will need to have the original seat base modified for the front bolster part, or you could build your own out of starlite, or HPDE. You will need a good upholstery shop to cover the bolster and the original seat bottom.
Once you do all of this, the older seats are narrower in the rib cage support area, so when you flip up the bolster, it's kind of tight, but we really like it in our boat, I use it all the time. I didn't take any pics of the project because my upholstery shop REALLY held me up on the project, and I was struggling to get the boat ready for the water.
