Which would you buy? 01 SANTE or 01 SAN

I am looking at two 01 SAN's, one has a team package, and the other has nothing. No perfect pass, no ballast, no shower, no heater and has the rear seat only, no wrap around or love extension. The team has all the accessories mentioned above.

The difference in price is 6,000. I would have to install the ballast and perfect pass. Those two are a must. I dont need the heater, shower or fancy stereo.

Which one is going to be easier to sell in five years, one that cost 6,000 less or one that has everything installed from the factory. The trailers are a wash, they are both the same. The motors and hours are roughly the same.

price out the ballast and perfect pass? my guess is you could probably add those two for 3000 or so. depending on where you live having the heater and shower might be a plus for resale. i think the team for the seating and ease of just using it rather than modifiying it.

Just FYI, there was no such thing as a team package in 01.

Do you have pictures of the boats? I'm guessing the boat with less options was a Super Sport Nautique, and perhaps someone added a tower and perhaps changed the graphics.

You didn't mention towers. Does one have a tower and the other doesn't?

They both should have seating that looks like the brochure pictures in the above link.

I have a 2001 SAN that only has a rear bench. No wrap around. I was told by the dealer that they could be ordered either way in 2001. I would guess your money would be better spent on the one with no ballast and no perfect pass. That way you can buy the current up to date PP ($1000) and install your own ballast ($1500), which happens to be what I am in the middle of doing. I ripped out the tanks in favor of larger bags.

bkh and Wakefun you are correct

Bkh and Wakefun you are correct, my fat finger typed in 01 SANTE when it should have been 02, my bad. Thanks for the catch. This is why I like this site so much, you guys know your stuff. Now knowing the correct comparrison what do you think. Both have towers, but the team has the clip on and the 01 has another style.

Never buy a boat because of the accy's, but rather based on mechanical/structural condition. But assuming all things are relatively equal, I would offer the seller of the SANTE $6K less and see what happens. As far as resale in 5 years, in my opinion if I was looking at a 13 y/o boat, I would prefer a boat that is more factory stock. There is better documentation and support available for stock options and you wouldn't have to worry about shoody aftermarket installs (not saying this would be the case with your installs, but as a buyer, you really never know).

I'd buy the 02 Team. They make wedge sacs that you can plumb into the factory ones in the rear if you need more weight.

Personally, I'd look at both boats and base my decision on condition. The 02 has a larger trunk, different graphics, and the upholstery was modified a bit. The 02 also has subtle differences like pop up lifting rings. One boat may just feel better than the other to you.

Secondarily, I'd consider what type of person you are. If you're one who tinkers with everything, then you'll probably end up making mods no matter which boat you buy. If you're one who pays someone else to do everything, then perhaps it might be a better deal to buy the boat with a more complete layout and spend your time and money being out on the water.
