Timmy, I just got off the phone with Carl, who owns the CC dealership here in Tyler (Ski N Sports). He has a 1992 Sport (red and black) with approx. 450 hours on it. It needs some elbow grease on the gel coat (buffing) and upholstery work (3 seat bases and motorbox). He says, other than those things, boat and trailer are in very good condition. Boat is on the lot. They have not prepped it for sale, but had planned to buff and replace upholstery as needed before marking it up to sell.

As it is, he said he would take $10,000 for it.

They are a very good CC dealer. 903-509-1754

    Good luck with your search.

Glad to help. They've been great to work with. Very nice people. If baby #2 doesn't show up in the next couple of days, I might be able to run by there and snap a couple of pictures of it for you.

Okay, Timmy, I went by and snapped a picture of the boat. I'd have taken more, but, apparently, I need to delete a few pics from my phone. So it's just the one. I did crawl around in it very quickly so I could give you a very bare bones assessment. So here it goes.

The gel coat needs a pretty good buffing. It's actually rough to the touch in spots and has a fair amount of fade. That said, it's not the worst I've seen and I have seen much, much worse brought back to near showroom condition. Plenty of info on this forum concerning wet sanding and/or compounding/buffing.

The vinyl is not good. The motorbox has some pretty serious cracking in the vinyl and the seats as a whole need a very thorough once over with the starbrite vinyl cleaner. Maybe 3 seat bases and the motorbox are all that obviously need replacement, but, were it my boat, I'd probably look at doing more. Then again, once it's cleaned up, it may not be as bad.

Carpet appeared to be pretty good. I noticed some snap in pieces in the bow. Floor seemed solid except the panel right behind the motorbox. But that seems to be something that would be easy to deal with if it was any sort of problem.

Engine looked very good at first blush. Not one of those you could eat off of, but not bad either. I obviously didn't dive into it looking for anything in particular.

The rub rail, while not in bad shape, could stand to be straigtened out in spots. My boat had this same issue and there's not much to it. Just a screw that needs to be replaced under the insert.

Throttle knob needed to be sanded and laquered. No surprise there.

Decals looked fine and the pin striping did, too. But again, I didn't get really close to inspect every detail.

Trailer also looked pretty good at a glance. Looks like a Ramlin, but IIRC, CC was still in the trailer biz back then. So probably a CC (same design). Spare tire was intact. The wood on the fenders held me up long enough for me to get in, so that can't be all that bad.

Overall, I think this boat just needs a little love. If you clean up and/or replace the vinyl and have it buffed out (or do it yourself) the hard part would appear to be done.

Hope that gives you an idea what to expect for if/when you make the drive over to look at it.

I'm not exactly experienced selling used boats apart from the one used boat I sold after I bought my CC. It was a 93 MC 205 that I sold in 2007. It wasn't perfect, but it was in pretty darned great shape with lots of improvements. I sold it for well over blue book, but did negotiate a bit on the price. From what I've seen, the more popular hull designs of manufacturers like CC and MC tend to level out on diminishing book value after a while. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case with the Sport. I don't know if $10K is a good deal or not. But most of what I saw with this boat seemed to be more on the cosmetic side of things. So with some work (and money for vinyl) it seems to have great potential. Not sure what the point of this last part is other than to potentially explain why some of these owners are apparently not being too flexible on their price.

          Good luck.

            Dude, thanks!
I hope it wasn't out of your way. Seems like an fair deal I guess, but not without work! I have made a deal with the austin guy, and I'm piching the Sport down there up tomorrow! $11K, and it is cherry with a custom tower and dual axle trailer. I couldn't put a grand into this tyler boat to get the same thing.
It will be very interesting to see what this tyler boat goes for. they should list it in the dallas craigslist when they are done- seems no one really looks at boattrader seriously anymore.

I'll post pics of my Sport once I get it.
            Tim

No trouble at all. I can't wait to see the pics of your new ride.

As for advertising, I've never known then to do much of it. But they move the inventory nonetheless.
