Correct Prop for 2000 Ski Nautique 196

Can anyone give any insight as to standard prop sizing for a 2000 SN 196. The one I just got when I bought my boat from a dealer used was a OJ 4blade 13x16P. Can't make out the cup on it. Is this too much pitch for this boat? What's a better all around choice?

Best prop for that boat in my experience is the acme 422. I believe that is what they come with from the factory.

Prop specs could change with engine specs. I have a 2001 196 with GT40 and I think it came with the original prop. just checked it and it is also an OJ Legend 4 blade. I can't tell details without removing prop nut though. There is a number stamped on it that may be the model # 92000. Don't know how helpful this is. Not a big deal to re and re the cotter pin and prop nut if you want.

Agreed 100%. Smooth as could be, perfect for this hull from 0-WOT.

Size wise what I have would be fairly comparable. The Acme 422 is a 12.5 x 15.5, the OJ is a 13 x 16. Thanks for all the insight.

DSUMS just checked my prop and its marked OJ Legend and has the number F325 on it. Looking at their website, they have a model 324 and 326 still available, but no 325. Mine also has a 5 digit number like yours, but mine starts in 99xxx so I thought it could be the date stamp. Well, curiosity continues but at least I know size wise its comparable to what others are running. If you get a sec, check to see if you have a F325 or similar number on yours.

Curiosity got the better of me so I went out and checked the size on my 09 196.
              Acme 668 12.5" X 15.5" same as the 422 but the 668 has an additional .045 cup.

Another vote for the 422. Started with the stock OJ and as soon as I got that Acme on there, it just clicked for me.

Rick, where did you get the decal you put on the side? Looks good and seems to update the boat a little.

Sorry about the incorrect info, I didnt know they had changed to the 668 on the new boats. Makes sense though to add some cup with the increase in HP on the newer engines.

The standard oj that came from the factory makes a great back up prop. I also tried OJ's version of the 422, dont remember the model number, and it was good, but the acme 422 is better.

                        prop size

The correct prop (factory install) for 2002 196 is a 12.5 x 15.5. My prop is the original and it is also stamped with the nauitque logo.

Agreed best all around is ACME 422...it's factory on my '04 196. I've heard that the OJ 4-blade 13X16 will pull the rooster tail in a little closer to the boat. Can anyone confirm?
                              Peace..
