    Star Gazer resale value

Any ideas on the resale value of Perfect Pass Star gazer? After searching here, it looks like the previous version can add approx $500 or so to boat price. I'm toying around with the thought of getting it for my 2000 Air. I already need to replace the factory gauges and want to see if I can justify the purchase if we sale the boat in a few years. I was thinking the fact that no holes had to be drilled in the hull and the GPS technology would make it a decent bit more valuable. Any thoughts?

Also, does anyone know if Star Gazer has an hour meter?

Do you have Perfect Pass now?

Pretty sure you need the paddle wheel for Star Gazer but not 100% on that. My understanding was the GPS and paddle wheel worked together.

Yes it does have an hour meter.

I don't think SG requires a paddle wheel since about mid summer 2008. I paid about $200 for the upgrade (new master module and antenna). Last I checked NADA lists speed control as a $800 bump in price. Maybe add $100 for GPS (spit balling that).

Of course, without the need for a paddle wheel, it may be a wash on price.

the new stargazer does not need a paddle wheel. i just ordered, installed and tested it within the last 3 weeks. i am having a power issue, but when i was on the water, it worked great. and yes, it does have a hour meter. the only thing the new one does not have is a water temp sensor, because there is no paddle wheel.

and no paddle wheel is excellent. doing it again, we could have installed the whole thing in less than 45 minutes (on 2001 super sport). very easy, and pretty straighforward.

Roddyj, what kind of power issue are you having?

For those that upgraded or have experience vs paddle wheel, what likes/ dislikes do you have?

One other thought I have is should the display replace the speedometer or tach?

dont replace either, just cut a hole in the middle of the two. in the random event something happens, you at least have your regular guages to fly manual (granted they work - the digital gauages blow)

i am having some kindof power issue on start up. PP is not getting the proper volts or something. it will freeze on startup and make a constant beeping noise. i think i have it diagnosed to a bad power wire. i am waiting on a new one and will go from there. its a really strange problem that is very inconsistent. its like a bad ground issue, only i have hooked the PP directly to my battery, so.........hopefully i have it figured out.
