Bevan, is that a private lake or are you lucky enough to have a cove to yourself?

I have always dreamed of owning a quarry that I could fill up with water and make a launch and have at it. There's one near where I grew up that a water ski club owns and it's just awesome. Deep water, and always nice. If they have an event there it gets a little choppy due to the rock walls reverberating the waves, but man is it awesome when you first get there. Bevan - Nice spot you got there!!!

I find a quick stop to talk to the guys fishing will go a long way towards sharing the lake. Just letting them know that we'll be running a bit...then taking a break, and then picking up again. They are usually cool about it....they are mostly just shocked that I would stop and say Hi.

As far as Jet skiers, unless they are just being a complete turd, I will sometimes stop and ask them to let us ski in peace in trade for 10 minutes of monster wakes just for them. After 10 solid minutes, they are usually dead tired anyway, or bored....but either way they leave me alone the rest of the day. Sometimes they may even come up later to figure out what we are doing...if we are barefooting or something like that.

Just being polite goes a long way in my experience.

BigBald - Were are you? Iam 20 min north on morse and I only get good water when
its cold, pre storm, or just lucky. Otherwise Iam fighting bass tournaments and
people who think its neet to run the course on jet skis.

Morse is every man for himself....and I avoid that lake as much as possible. But, if you can get on the water and off the water before 7:30 am...then you might find some decent water. Just not a big fan of the lake, but it's close. I have another favorite that has good water...but it's a secret spot over south of Crawfordsville, IN. 1 1/2 hr drive....but still a nice day trip. It's only a 500 acre lake (Waveland)....and not much amenities. But, we love it.

We also hit a lake close to my parents in Marion, IL. Usually 4 or 5 times a summer. Crab Orchard is it's name. Got to have a Federal sticker, but it's cheap. Ramps are iffy at best, but if you are careful, they are no problem.
