    Garage Space for SN 196

Hi, I am about to purchase a SN 196 and I was wondering if anyone here that owns one might now the min area needed to store it. The trailer does not have the break away tongue.

I'm building a garage for mine with a 30' depth. That's probably excessive, but I want room to walk around it. I think 26 is about the smallest you wanna go. Depends on the trailer though

Most Tongues extends about 2.5'-3' or more beyond bow of Boat, boat is 19'-6" without platform, typically you would need 22'-24' clear front to rear. If you know the trailer brand that may help in getting a more accurate answer.

Trailer is the key, with my prestige and the removeable tounge I could store in 20', if I removed the swim platform. My 23' garage held it with the tounge removed, and the swim platform still installed. I'm currently storing my sport with the tounge, and swim platform off in a 21' garage, although its angled and the wife grumbles when its raining because she had to park in the drive and not the garage.

I built a carport and had some options.

My final length was 26'. the tongue NOT swung and platform on, gave plenty of space and walk around room as well as flex to move it forward and backwards at will.

My 98 SN on a Dorsey trailer will fit on a diagonal in a 20' garage with the platform installed. If you take the platform off, I think you could get it in under 22'.

Be careful of the Pitot tubes. With a folding tongue, platform removed, I put my former SN in a 20 ft, garage, but I had to cut out two holes in the sheetrock for the pitots
to slide into the back wall. BKH

my '89 2001 fit in a 25ft garage straight in. With the swim platform removed I would walk behind the boat but with the platform on I woulds have had to angle the boat slightly to fit.

I had a garage build for my Boat and Suburban..24x28...The boat would fit with the flatform on,,but you could'nt walk around it...with it off..I push the boat all way back again the wall..leaves about 3 ft in the front to go around if needed...But its about 1 ft from the slide wall....And tucked away for winter.....even with by Suburban and boat theres alot of room still to get around.................

RE: Garage Space for SN 196

Thanks for the info guys. The boat I am looking at has a Ramlin trailer. I have about 22-23 ft in my basement so if I angle it, I think it will work.
LvnSpeed, wish I could get your boat, but it is out of my range, by the way I ski at Smith Lake also.

Sounds like the group has you covered on space, so I just want to welome you to the family if this is your first CC! I bought my first one last year after being raised with MasterCrafts - 7 of them throughout my lifetime. I used to bleed Tennessee gel coat, but am now a full-blown convert!
