Freeze plugs do not prevent freeze damage to cast iron blocks. "freeze plugs" are really plugs for the casting holes necessary when casting the block. Flipside, yes, there are only two cylinder heads or one for each bank of four cylinders. The GT40 or other automotive derived engines are not like PWC or sled engines (2-stroke) which usually (or used to) have individual bolt on cylinders and a seperate head for each cylinder. I agree with others in suggesting you simply repair the engine you have. Use the insurance money for the repairs and pocket the rest. All you need is a block which are a dime a dozen.

does anyone know if you can put a GT40 in a 1989 2001 Nautique? It's got the 1.23 tranny, and a 351 in it now... Hmmmm... This has me thinking!!!

Grrr... That looks so mean. I already have the 1.23 with the 1989, so that would probably make things easier. It's nice to know they fit in there... Hmmm... Darnit Mikeski, now you've got me thinking... Which of my children won't be going to college...? eeny meeny miny moe...
I had tossed around the idea of re-heading the engine, etc. to get some more power, but this is a complete GT40, the mother of all inboard engines. (father would be the python, obviously)...

Looks like he has a 1997 or so engine box on there. Not sure if that was out of necessity or not though.

yeah, I wonder. His was also an 88 with the 1.1 tranny, so I wonder if mine might be a bit more plug and play type of deal. I'm sure it wouldn't be super easy, but certainly possible. not that I have any real complaints on my engine, but just thinking.

I have a friend that put a GT-40 in a 1988 Ski. If anyone is serious, I can put you in touch with him so he can fill you in on the mods needed to accept the GT-40. I think the 1988 runs well over 50 with GT-40!
