That's what I was hoping for as well, but it was not to be. I can't compare it to the 206, as I've never driven one, but the 196 will run circles around it. Stay tuned for a few 200 tweaks in 2011... starting with a standard $ZR6. On a positive note, the fit and finish is awesome. I love the new motor box latch!

As a manufacturer you can't make one boat do everything well and satisfy everyone 100%. Then as a consumer you buy a boat (most can't afford to buy multiple boats) that will satisfy your needs the best.. So maybe you have to compromise a little and for tournament skiers sometimes that dosent work very well.
The SN 200 skis well and drives ....uh ...lets say I was very disappointed compared to the 196. They had to mess up a good thing....Yellow_Flash_Colorz:
The 196 has spoiled us all and will be sadly missed at the tournaments.... Then you have the huge cost of buying a 200 (at retail) (promo deals are not bad but still way more than the 2009 prices) especially since it won't run much over 40 mph without a 6.0L 400hp engine and $5000.00 more cost .
I would say that most of the boats that are selling (or claim to be sold) right now or shall we say on order are promos. I think CC might have messed up big on this one....especially in the design and timing dept....and then you have the high price. If I recall my first SN cost less than $10K in 1980. :???:
I'm wondering... has anyone bought a 200 at regular retail price from a dealer?

OleTime - Sad to hear you didn't like Correct Craft's latest offering. They went out on a limb & pushed the product in a direction they thought the market wanted. I hope they didn't go too far.
In the meantime, I think it would be best to keep the criticism constructive. Many people listen to what you guys have to say on this site.
It isn't 1980 anymore & nothing is a cheap as it was then!

I bought my first house in 1978 I paid $44700 brand new. I sold it in 1996 for $114000 and payed $250000 for my present home it was just appraised at $375000 . That's 8 times what a house cost in 1978 using this as an example a new 200 should cost $80000. Its unfair to compare price unless you factor in wages and improvements and upgrades.

My question is..How much better is the 200 for the money compared to a say a 2009 196?

An idea for CC: 2011 Ski Nautique Classic (196)! Consider it an entry level model and build them to order. Wishful thinking, I know!'08 196LE (previous)

The "everyone" I was refering to were the people who bought things they knew they couldn't afford and the banks that lent them the money to do it. The banks did not do their due diligence to find out which customers were legit borrowers.
Greed + Irresponsibility = Economic FUBAR!
But we know this already, right?

CC did a lot of things right with the SN200. 1. It is much easier getting to the platform from inside the boat. This is a big deal as many skiers (myself included) are getting old and stepping over the rear storage was/is a pain in the hips, especially for old jumpers. 2. Ski storage actually fits a ski! Unless you had a 65" or shorter ski it wouldn't fit in the rear trunk unlike the saddleback storage of the SN200. This boat can store two 69" skis per side. Haven't tried anything longer but I know the 69s fit. 3. This boat has a true walk through bow area which is pretty comfortable for 2 adults unlike the '92-02 SNOB with the step over front end which is only good for kids.
#4 is the best of all, IMO so I'll state it separately. This boat skis great long line slow speeds!!! This matters because many times a dealer has lost a sale of a 206 because the wife couldn't ski behind it. Lets face it, pretty much all the boats are great at comp speeds and 28 off or shorter so when the guy is trying to talk his wife into buying a ski boat the final say will come down to which boat SHE likes to ski behind or will ski behind. It doesn't matter if she is never going to ski after the test drive, if she doesn't like the way it skis it is going to be tough getting the boat. Women absolutely love skiing behind this boat!
Old Slalom Skier, this boat is selling well at the retail level. This year will more than likely be the 1st time since '97 a center engine boat will be the best selling model for CC. Does it drive like the SN196? No, but most people (retail buyers) don't care.

Again, does anyone know a person that has bought one at retail from a dealer? I am curious as to what the dealers are asking for them.

It's bad business as it would undermine the R&D outlay in the new model.

I don't know that they'd be undermining R&D, since the 196 is still considerably cheaper than the 200. MC had success with the Sportstar, utilizing the '95-'97 molds after revamping the Prostar for '98. The market will let CC know if dropping the 196 was a wise move. Coke changed their formula too once Yellow_Flash_Colorz:'08 196LE (previous)
