    Clear Protectant Tape??

So I have a new to me 2007 that's in excellent shape.

We are looking at protecting the gunnels and the stern from scuff marks.

Some guys have mentioned in the past using a clear protective film/tape of some sort to stick on the fiberglass.

It would be semi temporary but not permanent.

    Any ideas?

3M paint protection film. Available at fine atuomotive stores everywhere. Make sure your hands are clean when applying, especially if your boat is white.

My vote goes to the 3M paint protection film. You can find in in various sizes on ebay or ebay stores.

I used it on my 05 196 and just put it on my 09 196. Transom and gunnels.
This stuff does not yellow and comes off easily. INVNO1 made a good point about clean hands. Made that mistake once and had to redo it.

I also put this on the transom of our club 196 which is black and exposed to much more sunlight than mine. No yellowing or differential fading between the covered and non-covered parts.

Overton's has the TransomShield Protectors 3" x 105" (12 mm thick) on sale in the Outlet section for $8 (from original price of $45). Sounds like a pretty good deal, and it says in the description that they are 'Guaranteed not to yellow'.

We have a 07 206 and I put the 3m film on both corners on the transom so the boards dont chip or ding the glass when they are putting them on. We were going to put it on the fiberglass between the rear seat back an dthe back hatch but the company that put it on for me said that it is slippery when it gets wet. I also put it on the fronts of the trailer fenders to stop any paint chipping. Hope that this helps.
