Help on '05 211 Decision

First post but have enjoyed reading several and getting up to speed on the Natiques. I am currently looking at two ’05 211’s. One is a team edition and the other one purchased plain but has had add ons (tower, tower speakers, etc). A couple questions; does the plain boat have a depth indicator? It does not have PP and I don’t see the display within the MPH gauge but it would seem odd that it wouldn’t have one somewhere as base equipment. What was the standard stereo in a ’05 211 team? I am trying to determine if it has the extra inputs for RCA’s to run an MP3 player which I know some of the earlier Clarion’s did not. Also how difficult is it to run speakers into the flight control tower? Is it already drilled, etc?

I have searched the forum and tried to look at the manuals on line at nautique but just can not find this info. Thank you. Any other thoughts that would be beneficial are welcome.

You can find a 2005 brochure at correctcraftfan.com Take a close look at the options page in the back and the differences in standard and options on the Team will be shown. Here is the link.

The plain boat is the signature model (211s) and does not have a depth finder and Perfect Pass was an option on the signature and limited series but wakeboard pro is standard on the Team Edition (per the brochure). The brochure also lists the stereo options.

My friends 211 has the AUX inputs in the glove compartment.

don't know if this helps but my 07 211 SE has the jacks in the glove compartment, does not have PP, and had the dealer add a depth finder. Towers were pre-wired for speakers, but don't have any.

Welcome to Planet Nautique.

I can probably answer your questions better than anybody since I have a 2005 211SE.

The major difference between the SE and the LE is the instrumentation package and keypad interface, the TE boat adds the wakeboard gear (tower and ballast), not sure where perfect pass becomes standard but it is available as on option on any of them. The SE boats have analog gauges and a keyed ignition. The LE has a digital gauge interface with analog gauge faces. The SE has manual switches for blower, lights, horn, bilge, courtesy lights. These devices are controlled through pushbutton controlled relays on the LE/TE boats.

My boat came from the following items as factory options: flight control tower, flight clips, three ballast tanks, helm ballast controls, and perfect pass. I believe this group constitutes the same options as the team upgrades from the LE boats? There was no depth gauge on my boat from the factory, I added it myself, if the SE boat you are considering does not have a dedicated depth gauge on the dash you are not going to get that info from anywere else (no additional info from the speedo). The SE boats do not come with any stereo, mine came with the Clarion XMD3 and four Polk MMC650 speakers as an option, no dash remote, no bow speakers, but the aux inputs are in the glove box. I have re-installed everything, would have preferred to save the money and do everything myself but the boat came off the dealer floor and it already had this $1k stereo option. Other "useless" options included the upgraded steering wheel, throttle knob, and docking lights.

There is a "customizing your boat" thread elsewhere here where I list three pages of things I have added to customize my boat to my liking. The point here is you can do anything you want to a SE boat to bring it up to and beyond a team level, with the exception of the pushbutton dash and digital information system. If I were ordering a new boat today, I would order another SE boat, I prefer the key and analog gauge package, but I am old fashioned that way. No way opt for the new fancy computer driven graphical user interface, just too much to go wrong in my opinion.

A perfect pass will set you back about $1500 installed but it's worth it. You can have the center ballast tank installed but it's fairly major. If it doesn't have one just get a belly sack instead. The rear tanks on the 211 work pretty well, but you could also use sacks in the rear storage areas too. You have to scroll through the functions to get to the depth data....maybe it was an option....but it won't be obvious that it is there without checking for the sender. I bet you can still scroll through and see depth...but it won't show without the sender. They probably don't change the software.

Wow, Mikeski that was perfect. Looking forward to reading through your tower speaker install. Thanks to each of the respondents. I believe that the deal for the team is complete. The difference in cost was minimal <$1K for the same year and an hour difference of 25. Additionally, I am not the least bit handy so any upgrades would have most likely been hired.
