Does anyone have a real world comparison between the shortline (up to 38 off) wakes of the 196 vs 206. I am quite familiar with the 196 wakes of the last several years but I have never skied behind a 206.

It is the same from 32off into deep 39. I have had 2003/2004 and 2005 206s and 196s in 96/01/02/06/07/08. As a skier, you will not know. As a driver, you will notice a differance at low speed while manuvering around the dock and stuff like that. It feels more barge like at 1-3 mph.
If there were no 196, the 206 would be the premere tow boat out there.
        P.S
I drink the CC Koolaid so you will here differant from the Koolaid drinking 197 and RLXI owners.

wow, never knew any of this about the ski nautiques. Its nice to hear CC didn't sacrifice performance for comfort with their best ski boat. I only wish they would have taken the same approach with the 210.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.

My opinion, there is only one model that is the best at its job. There is only one Ski Nautique, it is a closed bow boat, 19' 6" long.
Likewise, there is only one Super Air, and they quit making it.

If you're correct that's good news for the purest; because there sure are a lot of them for sale.

He's correct. This thread title is a joke. If CC decides to stop making the best ski boat in order to make more money on other models, that is somewhat understandable.

It may be a joke to you and other owners with a lot of Nautique knowledge. But as a Nautique newbie, I posted this unaware the 196 closed bow was a different design and thought the SNOB was simply a 196 with the open bow modification. After listening to you guys I agree Nautique should be commended for sticking with its closed bow design if the SNOB was not as a good of a slalom boat.

This thread was educational for me as was the case with many of the others on this site. This site played a role in my decision to go with a Nautique over other brands.

Mark, also a consumer of that same Koolaid, comparing my 206, have skied both the MC & BU, the BU is awful to drive but the wake is Better IMO, the 197 is comparable. Guessing the weight of the accy's on my boat, tower/tank/etc., make that much of a difference, there is a noticeable difference having a 2nd observer or full fuel.

Cotton, congrats on your purchase, the 206 is a great boat.

My 1997 has 790 hours GT 40. I would want a 97 or newer. I mostly miss being able to open the windshield and putting a fatsac up there. I use to have a 93. Colors? Open to anything. Just don't have $ to add. Does anyone?
