Wake Surfer- Inland Surfer's Red Woody or Hyperlite Landlock

I am looking for a new wake surfer and have it down to these two boards.

The Red Woody is about twice the price of the Landlock?

Does anyone here know why there is such a price discrepancy?

i have the blue island surfer & i love it !! im 6 ft 2 240 so i need a bigger board , my wife and daughter are both a tick over 5 ft and the blue is a lil big for them but they enjoy ridin the blue!! We also have lil red and it takes more wake to keep me movin or i just need to work harder to stay in the pocket & the girls love it as well ! All ISurfers are well worth the cash to me !!

      RE: Wake Surfer- Inland Surfer

Inland Surfers are epoxy infused wood laminate boards. These are way more involved than a molded board like the Landlock. Personally, I think the old Landlocks are far better than the newer ones. The old ones were thinner and had a way more defined edge to them. I think they are about the best trainer board out there. The newer boards tend to be thicker and foam cored which allows for use on a wider range of boats. They ride higher in the water and therefore are capable of being ridden on lesser wakes. While I do not own a surfer, they are definitely snazzy boards. I have a pretty big arsenal of surf boards and a lot of opinions about them. Which board is best for you depends on lot of things. What boat / wake. Your size. Your experience. And who all is riding this board. I got bored with big boards quickly. I am a big fan of Phase 5 boards. I think the Oogle is a great starter board overall that still maintains it's fun aspect long after you figure out what you are doing. You are not going to be grinding a Landlock or hitting spin tricks. Ever. I think the betwen the two boards I would go with the IS board. Or get a Landlock to learn, and be ready get something else down the line when you get bored.

      Hyperlite LandLock
      Phase5 Oogle
      Trickboardz Original
      Phase5 Icon
      Shredd Stixx Thresher Shredder
Liquid Force 4.3 <---- the greatest board EVER (my wife's)
Trickboardz Surfskate (mahogany) <----- the greatest board ever
Trickboardz Surfskate (glass) <------really the greatest board ever !!!!!!

As you can see I have a pile of them, and you can also see that I flipflop on what I think is the best.

Let me know if you have any questions about any of these.

        RE: Wake Surfer- Inland Surfer

I just received my Landlock yesterday. Have not even opened the box. Can't wait to ride for the first time...total newbie.

The beginner/intermediate qualities of the board combined with price was the deciding factor for me. I am 6'-6" (205 ibs) and my boys are 6'-4" (15), 6'-3" (13) and 5'-7" (10), so the long board makes sense for all of us.

          Thanks for the input guys.

To give you a little background, last year I purchased a Ronix 4' 8" Caption.

This is a fun board, but a lot of work to stay in the pocket behind my 216.

Just looking for a cruiser that will work with my smaller wake.

Something that anyone in the boat can use.

That would be the Landlock. Very forgiving of the "sweet" spot. In other words, I think it will work with no sweet spot. My biggest concern with the Landlock is the 5'-11" length...gonna be hard to store in the boat. I am hoping it will fit the ski locker...but then what after I add a locker bag...on the to do list eventually.

This is what we got! Our friend got a board for him a few years ago. It's only big enough for a girl (or him) to ride. He felt bad and got this one for us men.

^^Whoa^^ You sir, could probably surf behind a jetski on that board!!
Another advantage of the old Landlock is that it fits in board racks. A friend found one on Ebay last August for $125. Either Landlock is a great board for everyone to ride.

it just occurred to me that the Landlock would probably not fit in my board racks.

Does anyone know of the Red Woody will fit?

Their website seems to say the dimensions are 5'6" x 1.75" x 22" That would not fit in mine for sure, but mime are old Wake Designs racks. Anyone know if that thickness is correct? Both my wooden boards are more like 1/2" - 5/8"

I have a sport, dd, and ride the red tide. I also have the broadcast and to me there is no comparasion. Any of he custom board companies will be much better in the long run than any hyperlite in my opinion. the broadcast is great for the first few rides however the other are more than worth the money. I liken it to the reason we own a correct craft and not a moomba.

I want to try this board:

                              http://www.inlandsurfer.com/shop/Det...=71&category=5

                              Wow.
They have a bunch of new boards out this year. I have contemplated and IS the last couple years. They also have a carbon fiber version but it is $300+ more.
