I saw a wicked 06 with 35 hrs on it for 40k and an 06 vlx for a couple grand less.. How do these boats compare.. I have only been on an 06 ride and an 07 ride.. But never a VLX The wakes seemed to lack pop.. but I think the boat was not weighted as good as it could have been. I really would like to know about the wakes.. I like the stiff pop the SAN gives, but I hear the VLX has a nice transition and rampy feel. Also the lake I will be riding on is only 5-7ft deep.. So I'm not sure how that will affect the vlx wedge. Thank

RE: 06 super air 210 Vs 06 Malibu VLX wake
vlx is going to be wider and alot more mellow than 210. On my friends 07 vlx I have to have the wedge down and more weight in the boat to even start coming close to vert on my 210. You really have to weight these boats to get a vert style wake. With that being said the vlx transition is very nice to land on. I guess some people like a more mellow wake and some like more pop.
As far as compairing the boats I really like the seating and large feel of the vlx. On the other hand I don't like how much gas that thing drinks on an afternoon out. I ride both boats every summer and I just bought my second 210 so I would have to say for me, there was no question.
Just from looking at what is out there it would seem that the Malibu resale value is not quite as much as a Nautique. This may be why the Bu is a little cheaper. The money you spend in gas on that Bu will be made up in the price difference on the 210.
I am usually in 50-200 ft of water on my lake so I can't help you with how the shallow water will change the wake. By the way you just asked a bunch of Nautique owners if you should get a malibu. Think about it.
Anyway good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the response.. It just confirmers what I already know.. SAN has a better wake. I'm a nautique owner as well.. I'm not really sure why I was even considering the malibu.. I was just curious about the wake more or less.. I have friends that swear by the malibu wake.. The boat just looks cool I guess.. But since the lake I will normally be riding on is shallow the SAN should throw a nicer wake with less weight.. I have the 50 year anniversary nautique.. its a 1975 beast.. It throws a decent wake in that shallow of water so I'm hoping the 210 will as well. I would ride a deeper lake, but denver sucks for that.. theres not **** thats not already tracked out by all the jet skis and tubers.

I live on a shallow lake like that and have never had a problem getting a wake to "shape up". I just don't think it's got much to do with it besides not hitting bottom. I would, however, be very concerned about the wedge sticking down there. I'm not sure how much further down it sticks, but it's farther back in the transom, so it's got to be lower than the prop, I would think....Travis Fling

I have a super air and I ride behind a vlx quite a bit. The VLX is very nice its just different. My buddy with the vlx puts about 3k in it and that thing is huge. The pro about the wake is that it is very clean and stays the same shape just gets bigger with weight. Now it drinks gas like crazy. In my super air I put about 1700 pounds of ballast and my wake is huge. I can mellow my wake out but it seems really had to make a bu wake steep (or just get that straight up pop).

I think you'd probably get different answers on malibucrew.com than you do here being a Nautique site. I ride behind a 06 vlx with 2800lbs quite a bit and love the wake. There are pluses and minuses to both wakes. The malibu wake is much more consistent than the 210 wake is in choppy water. It is mellow and wider. The take offs are consistent and landings a little softer. The 210 I ride has about 2200lbs of ballast. The wake is narrower and much steeper. The pop is great, don't really have to try but hard for beginners. The Nautique wake will definitely be a better wake in shallow water. I think both boats are great it's just a matter of which style of wake you like more. I love the fact that I get to ride both all the time.

RE: the black and red one
wake4life.. that boat is sick.. I was lookin at that one too. Almost bought it too.. there are a couple more 06's for 40k I found... you pay full price? was it truly spotless like he said? when the pics where first up it looked kinda sketch.. the center cap on the steering wheel was missing , the check engine light was worn off (weird with only 35 hrs, couldn't tell if it sat in the sun or anything) the engine dividers in the back were missing, there were no pics of the back of the cabin, the engine looked dirty.. and there were like 4 pics of the tower.. When I asked him for more pics he said he couldn't do it for 3 days.. the second round of pics looked a lot better he finally posted... couldn't make it out to look at it in person for another week... He still wants to sell me a boat.. He has an 05 coming in super cheap...what kinda reference ya give em?
